Chelsea Transfer News: £20m Midfielder Wants Blues Move
Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini has been talking up a potential move to Chelsea, amid rumours the Blues are set to bid for the Belgian ace.
Fellaini has enjoyed an excellent four years on Merseyside after moving to Everton from Standard Liege in the summer of 2008. The 24-year-old has gone on to play 107 games for the Toffees, scoring 14 goals, but now he feels it could be time for a change.
The Belgian midfielder is quoted in the Mirror as saying he would be open to a move to Chelsea as he would have several of his international team mates there, and he’s ready to join an ambitious club who plays in Europe every season.
“They talked about me in Chelsea? If I had to go there, I would have several friends – Eden Hazard, Romelu Lukaku, Kevin De Bruyne, Thibaut Courtois – there are many Belgians!
“If I have got to go, I will go. I am ambitious; I want to play in the Champions League or in the Europa League.”
“Every year they say I’ll be transferred to the left or right but I’m still at Everton. If it comes, I take, if it does not come, I stay at Everton, where I am happy, and where I still have a four-year contract.
“Everything goes fast in football. You can be transferred tomorrow, as you can be in one or two years.”
Only last week the Mirror claimed that Chelsea were closing in on a £20m move for Fellaini, although Real Madrid are also thought to be keeping tabs on the player after their move for Athletic Bilbao star Javi Martinez stalled.
Chelsea have been linked with Fellaini for months now and with the player seemingly open to a move to Stamford Bridge, he may just be the third Belgian to join the Abramovich revolution this summer, after the clubs capture of Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bryne.
