Joe Cole Set For Liverpool Move

By Football Talk.

Joe Cole could be set to leave London and sign for Liverpool after the Anfield club tabled a £90,000pw three-year contract offer, according to the Daily Mail. The move would see Cole turn down the advances of London-based trio Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham, who have all offered the 28-year-old the chance to remain in the capital.

With Cole now back from holiday, a final decision is due within the next 48 hours and it’s expected that he will choose Liverpool with bookmakers even suspending betting on the move over the weekend. This after new Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson confirming he had held talks with the midfielder although he confirmed no deal had yet been struck.

Until any deal is officially announced, Arsenal and Tottenham remain in the hunt for Cole’s signature. West Ham are also interested, and have offered the best deal financially, but with no European football it’s unlikely the England winger will return to Upton Park.

Cole left Chelsea last month after failing to agree a contract extension and old boss Carlo Ancelotti has claimed cash was behind his decision to leave the Blues.

‘The problem was economic,’ said Ancelotti, ‘There is a problem between the club and Joe Cole, not me. We have spoken about this but when the problem is over money, then it is not my problem.
