Premier League clubs have been alerted by the news that Werder Bremen are prepared to listen to offers for World Cup sensation Mesut Ozil. Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United have all been linked with a move for the German playmaker in recent weeks, with bids in the region of £20m being suggested after he put in some eye-catching performances at the World Cup.

Ozil has only 12 months remaining on his current Bremen deal and it was thought he would stay and see out the final year before leaving on a free next summer. But now Werder Bremen general manager Klaus Allofs has admitted the Bundesliga club will listen to any offers that come in for Ozil.

He said: ‘I can already think that we will have offers in the next few weeks or just before the transfer deadline from a number of clubs.

‘If something concrete comes, we have a duty to talk to Mesut and his advisors and to see what they want. We will not change our policy. We cannot afford it.’

Allofs confirmed the club had met with Ozil to discuss extending his contract, but no deal could be struck between the two parties.

‘We had arranged a meeting with Mesut, however we found no solution during our discussions.

‘We presented our our options, but the issue was not brought to an end.’

£20 million for a player with 12 months on his contract would seem a bit much. They’ll have to take a cut down bid or risk him leaving for free next year

Over rated, good world cup means nothing.Came out of a poor group and was found out against spain.Krasic far better option granted he did`nt shine at the world cup.But then he didnt have much football under his belt due to the russian league finishing early. He was a bargain at 12 million.

Agree with Big L. Crazy price to put on his head with 12 months left. £10 million would be closer the mark and even then thats generous considering he only has a year left. Only team that will pay the price they want for him would be Man City cos they are idiots.
