Chelsea Dealt Blow In Hulk Pursuit

By on June 19, 2012

The summer transfer window is open and Football Talk will bring you all the latest transfer news doing the rounds in the papers. Today, Chelsea have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Hulk.

Hulk

Chelsea have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Porto’s Hulk after being told PSG are willing to pay £43m for the striker, according to the Daily Mail.

The Blues have been strongly linked with the Brazilian hitman in recent weeks but the Mail claim the European champions have struggled to agree a fee with Porto, after opening negotiations at around £30m.

Hulk is keen on a move to Stamford Bridge and a deal looked to be close when it was suggested that the Portuguese outfit were willing to do business at around £38m.

However, Chelsea’s hopes of striking a deal have been hampered with the news that the players price tag has in fact increased after interest from mega-rich PSG as well as the players good form for the Brazilian national team this summer.

The Mail suggests that reports emanating from Portugal claim that PSG have already been in touch with Hulk’s agent Teodoro Fonseca about a move to France, as the ambitious Ligue 1 side look to sign a marquee striker this summer.

Separate reports in Portuguese newspaper, Diario Noticias, says that the major issue preventing a move to Chelsea centers around who should pay Fonseca’s 5% agents fees and the 10% owed to Uruguayan club Atletico Rentistas of any transfer.

FT Verdict

Hulk’s proposed move from Porto to Chelsea is fast becoming one of this summers most drawn -out transfer saga’s.  Last week it looked a done-deal, but today it seems the clubs will never agree a fee.

I really can’t see Roman paying over £35m for this guy, and apparent interest from PSG could just be rumours intended to force Chelsea’s hand. Hulk is unlikely to move to France anyway and has made it clear he wants to move to Stamford Bridge, and we think the deal will happen…eventually!

Daily Fail usually reports downside against Chelsea rumour and more positive for Man United. See last week they report that Tottenham agree Modric fee from ManUtd for only 22M, such a ridiculous price compare to his form at EURO’12. And now they put Hulk upward to 43M, Nah! Shame Sportmail reporter!!
