Wenger – Giroud’s Gunner Fit In Well At Arsenal

Montpellier-Olivier-Giroud

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed a deal for striker Olivier Giroud is almost complete, according to Sky Sports News.

Giroud is currently away on international duty with the French squad at Euro 2012 and drew interest from several clubs throughout Europe after an impressive season in Ligue 1, scoring 21 goals as Montpellier lifted the title for the first time in their history.

Arsenal have been strongly linked with the 25-year-old in recent weeks, with a £13m deal taking the striker to north London thought to be close.

Wenger, speaking on French TV station TF1 on Thursday night, confirmed those reports are accurate saying a deal for Giroud is 90 per cent complete. The Frenchman went on to praise the striker, claiming he thinks the player will fit in well at the Emirates.

When asked about a potential deal for Giroud, Wenger said:

“Giroud didn’t play much (at the Euros so far), but he’s going to be an Arsenal player 90 per cent next season.

“I think he has exceptional potential and will integrate very well in our collective and our way of playing.

“He is a real team player and knows how to combine with other players and I’m sure he will do well with us.”

Wenger is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News

In order to make room for Giroud, Wenger will look to sell some of his ‘deadwood’, with the likes of Nicklas Bendtner, Denilson, Marouane Chamakh and Carlos Vela all likely to leave Arsenal this summer.

FT Verdict

So, it looks like Giroud is in fact heading to north London. Arsene very rarely talks so openly about a player he’s interested in, unless it’s pretty much a ‘done-deal’. And 90% is pretty much a ‘done-deal’!

Barring a Juan Mata style collapse, Giroud will be an Arsenal player next season. Great work Arsene, next up….Yann M’Vila!

Morning gunners. Giroud said he hadn’t signed any contract with Arsenal but he didn’t denie that the deal was 90% done. Sounds like he’s saying, I haven’t signed yet cos of euros but I’ll sign once I’m chanced. Well done le prof. Can we start shipping out d disgruntled players and the highly over paid inefficients, begining with the world best NB. Can’t wait for next season to start. Gunners for life

Giroud will be a great inclusion into the Arsenal Team and will get his chance in the team. Arsene nice buy but I will like to see 2 more buys, one at the Midfield and one at the back that can play RB and CB just as Thomas Vam. is doing at the moment. 2 more buys and Arsenal are up for the trophy this coming season. Nicolas B., Vela, Chamack, Arshavin all this players can make there move away but let other players stay to build a better team for the FA Cup, Carling Cup and the PL Tropy and we can have a chance to win the CL Trophy becos in the professo i trust

Deluded as usual, another chamakh, gervinho from the French league. That league is rubbish and finishing top scorer there means nothing. He looks even more of a cart horse than the other two.
