Van Persie Latest: Man City To Make Formal Offer

Another day and another ‘development’ on the future of Robin van Persie as the Telegraph are reporting that Man City are set to make a formal offer for the Arsenal captain.

Arsenal fans have had to put up with uncertainty over the Dutchman’s future in recent weeks after it became apparent he had refused to agree terms on a new contract, despite holding talks with manager Arsene Wenger and Ivan Gazidis at the end of the season.

With only one year left on his current deal, the the likes of Man City, Juventus, Real Madrid and Barcelona were all linked with a move for the 28-year-old.

Now, the Independent are reporting that the newly crowned Premier League champions are set to make a formal approach to Arsenal, but the offer is unlikely to be more than £20m. The report also claims that RVP has been house-hunting in the Cheshire area and City are confident they can land the 30-goal striker if they move quickly.

Van Persie is currently away on holiday following Holland’s early exit from Euro 2012 but is still expected to travel to Asia with the rest of the Gunners squad for their pre-season tour next month.

City can make all the £20m bids they like. Arsenal won’t sell their best player for such a low amount and besides, Van Persie’s own father has recently stated that his son would find it impossible to join another Premier League club, and I’d sooner believe his dad than a newspaper.

The good news for Gooners is that it shouldn’t be too much longer before we know exactly what’s going on. I can’t see this dragging on in to August so we’ll just have to put up with a few more weeks of rumours and uncertainty. We can manage that, right? It’s not like we haven’t had plenty of practice!

This article is speculative nonsense, which of course is usual for this pathetic site.

Once again I’d like to re-iterate, my son will not be going to Manchester City. He will be signing a contract as he wants to repay the debt he owes the club for standing by him through his injury nightmares. The club has shown their ambition by signing 2 wonderful players and I believe they are working on bringing in 2 more. This has convinced Robin that Arsenal are the best club for him. For that I am 100% sure.
