Arsenal Linked With Marco Reus – Only One Problem….

Marco-Reus

In what can only be described as the most ridiculous transfer news story of the summer so far, the Daily Mail have linked Arsenal with a move for German star Marco Reus.

The article came about after Gunners manager Arsene Wenger was asked by Bixente Lizarazu while working with French TV if he was “on the case” of Reus, to which Wenger replied “yes”.

So not one to miss an opportunity, the Daily Mail came up with the headline ‘Wenger confirms interest in Reus as Arsenal boss purrs over Germany forward‘ and claimed that the Gunners are somehow “closing in Reus” with Wenger apparently looking to strengthen his attack with the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder this summer.

Only one problem Daily Mail….Marco Reus agreed to join Borussia Dortmund for £14m in January! As confirmed by Sky Sports News , the 23-year-old agreed a five-year contract and was immediately loaned back to Borussia Monchengladbach for the rest of the season and will now link up with his new club this summer.

What’s worse is that the Mail even knew this as they point it out at the bottom of their article, but it didn’t stop them claiming Arsenal are “closing in” on him. It’s amazing that stories like this are signed off and allowed to be published.

So unless Dortmund are looking to turn a quick profit and sell Reus before he’s even kicked a ball for them,  i wouldn’t be getting too excited about seeing him in an Arsenal shirt any time soon.

Nice one Daily Mail, you’ve really exceeded all expectations this time.

I did see him together with Podolski an Mertesacker. Must be true then, these rumours. Hey Daily Mail, I saw RvP having dinner with Elvis Presley last week. Elvis, of course, being a fan of Bayern Munich…….

@karis, Glen is a good footballer and not a good defender, i was surprised he could actually play to that extent in the first 20minutes of the game and after that what do you see? His normal self unable to defend, pure in turning when being cut by an opponent striker to mention a few but atleast he looked better than milner. Santos will play 90minutes of one on one duel for you coupled his good touch in attacking.

Nonsense, Reus wasn’t loaned back. He had a clause in his contract which allowed him to leave at the end of the season for a fixed 17 million EUR transfer fee. Reus/Dortmund agreed in January to use the clause, so he will officially join Dortmund next month.

And no chance for Arsenal, he wanted to go to Dortmund because he grew up there and is a fan of the club. There were far better offers for him from other top clubs.
