Giroud: I Turned Down Chelsea For Arsenal
New Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has revealed he snubbed a move to Chelsea before signing for the Gunners.
The 25-year-old became one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe after bagging 21 goals to help Montpellier claim their first ever Ligue 1 title last season.
The France international finally completed his move to Arsenal on Monday after weeks of speculation linking him with a move to north London.
However, Giroud has now revealed that he turned down the opportunity to join European champions Chelsea, claiming he chose the Gunners due to their philosophy and stability.
Quoted by Goal.com, Giroud said:
“The choice was between Chelsea and Arsenal. I chose Arsenal because of the club’s philosophy and stability.
“It is something that means a lot for me. I’ve always dreamed of playing in the Premier League and Arsenal are a great club with many French players.”
Chelsea are in the market for a target man up front to replace Didier Drogba, and it seems they had identified the 6ft 3 inch Frenchman as the ideal candidate.

All we need now is for RvP to sign.. We are good for challenging on all fronts.. Defense with kos and verm would be solid, just hope that we would not face the injury jinx next season..

That is Giroud’s choice and we wish him the best. At Chelsea we want players who would play their heart out like Terry, Didier,Cole, Lamps et all……..I hope he would be able to win a trophy ( Giroud) in 5 years lol
