Arsenal have rejected a 10 million euros (£8m) offer for striker Robin van Persie from Juventus, according to the Independent.

The report claims that Juve, Manchester City and Paris St Germain are all tracking the Dutchman, but it’s the Italian giants who have made the first move to try and land the 28-year-old and they have opened the bidding with a cheeky £8m offer.

The bid has of course been rejected out-of-hand by Arsenal and Juventus will have to stump up a lot more than that if they are t sign RVP, who netted 30 Premier League goals last season.

Rumours linking van Persie’s with a move away from the club have filled the back pages for months with his current contract expiring in just 12 months time. His future at the Emirates was thrown in to doubt after refusing to sign a contract extension after talks with Arsene Wenger and Ivan Gazidis at the end of last season.

The Mirror believe Premier League champions Man City are still the favourites to land the striker this summer. Manager Roberto Mancini recently refused to be drawn on the subject of RVP and said he doesn’t expect any movement within his squad in the near future.

“Van Persie? He is an Arsenal player and I don’t want to disrespect Wenger.”

“We have four strikers and we will start the pre-season in five days, it’s unlikely there will be major changes in such a short time.”

Mancini is quoted as saying in the Mirror.

There is likely to be more news when the Arsenal players return to pre-season but if City are going to submit an offer, it’s going to take a lot more than £8m to persuade the Gunners in to selling their captain, that’s for sure.

Juv’s offer is derisory at best, in fact it’s laughable, so let’s hope Mancini’s men are a little more realistic with their valuation of the player, otherwise we can expect RVP to be still wearing an Arsenal shirt next season.
