Rodgers Targets 3 or 4 Signings & Claims Suarez Is Staying
New Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed he’s looking to sign three or four players this summer while also claiming Luis Suarez will be at the club next season, according to the Independent.
Rodgers is still waiting to make his first signing since taking over at Anfield a month ago but has confirmed he’s looking to add a number of new faces to his squad ahead of next season.
Several names have been linked with a move to Merseyside including the likes of Gylfi Sigursson, however, the former Swansea boss has stressed that supporters should not believe everything they read in the newspapers. Quoted in the Independent, Rodgers said:
“I’m looking forward to bringing in three or four players that can really affect the group, I’ve got a wonderful group of players here at the moment.
“I read every day players that are linked with here and unfortunately, especially for the supporters, it’s a difficult time because you’ve got agents linking players with Liverpool just purely because it’s great for them to be linked with such an institution of a club.
“But the reality is there are very few players who can come and make a difference to Liverpool.”
Rodgers is also confident he will be able to call upon the services of star striker Luis Suarez next season after confirming he’s held positive talks with the Uruguayan.
The Independent claim that Italian champions Juventus are ready to make an offer for the striker but Rodgers is adamant the 25-year-old is looking forward to starting the new season at Anfield and even claims he want’s to get the player tied down to a new contract at the club.
“I’ve had a brilliant chat with Luis,”
“He’s really looking forward to being here and we are obviously hoping that we can get him on to another new contract.
“He’s really looking forward to the new season.”
Rodgers is quoted as saying in the Independent.
