Manchester United are in talks to sign Chelsea target Lucas Moura this summer, according to the Mirror.

The report claims that Sir Alex Ferguson has made the Sao Paulo starlet his number one target as he looks to add a marquee signing this summer, and has urged the Glazers to splash out £30m on the youngster.

United have now sent club officials, including chief scout Jim Lawlor, to Brazil to try and seal a deal for the exciting 19-year-old attacker, but will still face competition from Chelsea, who have already had a bid rejected for the player, as well as Real Madrid who are also in talks with the players representatives.

United have been tracking Lucas for some time now and have even invited the players father to Old Trafford for preliminary talks. The youngster is part-owned by his family and Fergie is looking to reduce Sao Paulo’s £35m asking price by agreeing a deal with his parents first.

The key for Ferguson will be persuading the Glazers to part with the money required to land the Brazilian, and the Scot hopes the fact Moura will have a strong re-sale value will work in his favour.

Moura has already played 80 times for Sao Paulo having broken into the side at just 17.
