Brazilian side Internacional claim they have not received any bids for reported Chelsea and Tottenham target Oscar, according to Sky Sports News.

The Daily Mail reported this morning that Chelsea had pipped Tottenham to the signing of the Brazilian plamaker by agreeing a £25m deal with Internacional.

Sky Sports News also reported that the players agent, Carlos Meinberg Neto, had previous claimed the European champions had tabled a €25million (£19.8m) bid for the 20-year-old and a deal was close to completion.

However, Internacional president, Giovanni Luigi, has stepped in to deny these claims insisting they are yet to receive any firm offers for either Oscar or striker Leandro Damiao, who has also been linked with a move to Spurs.

Luigi does admit that the club may be forced to sell their prized assets this summer should a suitable offer come in, but again reiterated that no bid had been made for any of their players as yet.

“There have been no offers for Oscar and Leandro Damiao,”

“Internacional have the practice of selling one or two players every transfer window.

“This system has been working and we will keep it, developing players, then finding replacements if they are sold while the window is open.

“So we might sell a player, but right now no offer has been made for any player in the squad.”

Football Talk Verdict

So it appears contrary to what the Daily Mail reported today, Chelsea have in fact NOT agreed a deal to sign Oscar….yet.

The player seems destined to leave Brazil this summer and a move to London is likely. What’s not clear however, is what part of London he’ll end up in. Chelsea remain favourites but don’t discount Spurs, who have new ambitions under Andre Villas-Boas.
