Liverpool are set to bid £7m for Celtic midfielder Ki Sung-Yueng, according to the Sun.

The report claims that new Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has identified the South Korean as a potential transfer target and is keen to bring him to Anfield this summer as he continues to re-shape his squad ahead of the new season.

The former Swansea manager is eager to add to his midfield options and wants players who will suit his passing style of play, and believes Ki has the ability to fit in well alongside Steven Gerrard and Lucas Leiva at the heart of Liverpool’s midfield next campaign.

However, the Merseysiders will face stiff competition for the Celtic man, with the Sun claiming Queens Park Rangers, Rubin Kazan and  Deportivo La Coruna are among the clubs keeping their eye on the 23-year-old.

QPR chairman Tony Fernandes confirmed their interest earlier this week, saying:

“Ki is a very good player and we are very aware of him.

“He is a player we will be watching and also monitoring closely.”

Fernandes is quoted as saying in the Sun

Ki is willing to wait until after the Olympics to sort his future out, but it’s believed that Liverpool and QPR are likely to make their move before the end of July.
