Arsenal have been offered Barcelona midfielder Ibrahim Afellay, according to Goal.com.

The report claims that Barca officials have told the player he is no longer required at the club, sparking interest across Europe.

The Catalans are keen to raise cash for their pursuit of Athletic Blilbao’s Javi Martinez and are willing to cash-in on Afellay. His agent, Rob Jansen, is believed to have offered his client to both Arsenal and Inter Milan as he looks to find the 26-year-old a new home ahead of next season.

Goal suggest Barca will be willing to do business at around €6 million with Inter thought to be seriously considering making a move for the attacking midfielder.

The Gunners may also be interested, as boss Arsene Wenger remains keen on bringing a playmaker to the club this summer, and the Frenchman narrowly missed out on the former PSV star when he moved to Barca in 2011.

Afellay moved to the Nou Camp in January of that year and made a good start to his career in Spain, playing 28 times during the second half of his debut season.

However, a serious knee injury kept him out for almost the entire 2011/12 season and despite declaring his intention to fight for his place in Tivo Vilanova’s side, Afellay looks certain to leave this summer after being told he isn’t in their first team plans next term.
