Arsenal Register Interest In Signing Brazilian Playmaker

By  Published: 14th July 2012

With the summer transfer window in full swing, Football Talk will be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer news throughout the summer. Today, Arsenal are linked with a Brazilian playmaker.

Ganso

Arsenal have entered the race to sign highly-rated Brazilian playmaker Paulo Henrique Ganso, according to the Daily Mail.

The report claims that the Gunners have registered their interest in the midfielder, known simply as ‘Ganso’, and his club Santos are now waiting for the Londoners to make their interest official with an offer.

Boss Arsene Wenger is keen on signing an attacking midfielder this summer as he looks to improve his options ahead of next season, and it’s believed that Ganso is high on the Frenchman’s priority list.

The Londoners have been linked with several names this summer, including Chelsea-bound Oscar, but it seems Wenger has switched his attentions to the 22-year-old ace.

The Brazilian is regarded as one of the most highly-rated midfielders in South America after some impressive displays for Santos, where he has scored 10 goals in 59 appearances so far in his senior career.

This form has earned him 8 international caps and he’s also been linked with the likes of AC Milan and Chelsea in the past, while north London rivals Tottenham are also believed to be keeping tabs on the player in case they miss out on number one target João Moutinho.

Football Talk Verdict

I think Wenger will seriously look to bring in an attacking midfielder this summer and he could do a lot worse than taking a punt on Ganso.

Tomas Rosicky and Aaron Ramsey were often deployed in the ‘hole’ behind RVP last season, and while Rosicky was excellent for large parts, at 31 and having a poor injury record, we really need more depth in this area.

The major issue in signing Ganso will most likely be price. These young Brazilian starlets don’t often go on the cheap, and with several other clubs reported to be interested, i’m not convinced Arsene will pay what it will take to sign him.

Yeah Robbie because we are really going to go for him just because he is a Spurs target as it would be really sensible to follow the example of a team which aint won the title since 61 and has only played in the Champs league once. Get a life and a brain while your at it.

Who in their right mind would want to be part of the goon show? They are a club in major decline. Their only world class player, RVP, is leaving because he has finally realised they are sinking fast and he doesn’t want to waste any more of his career than he already has. The manager, wenger, is a supercilious fool that has lost the plot and the goonie fans are the most ignorant contemptibly deluded filth you’ll ever have the misfortune to meet.

Hey Stoney, I know computers are beyond many of you Spuds but you only have to hit the enter button once! BTW until you have a stadium worthy of the description you’d be well advised to stop talking about the mighty Arsenal as being a club in decline. Keep snapping at our heels little dog!

Yeah, well said. Oops, that was directed at me. I wish we had a stadium like yours. It’s the quietest place in the world between 3pm and 4.45pm. You can hear the rats farting at your immigrants stadium during a game. You brought the old highbury library atmosphere along for nostalgic reasons. It’s nice you hold a 90 minute silence during every game. Is it in memory of all those players that walk out on your sinking team season after season? It’s very touching. The building of our new stadium starts next month. It will be even bigger and better than yours, and undoubtedly a tad noisier (but that’s not difficult).. The same goes for our newly opened state of the art training ground which is by far the best in the world.

With RVP going and Willsher permanently injured, Arsenal are clearly on a downward path – which is why one half of your Board hates the other half. Its clear now (and Board members say it) that Arsenal have given up hope of winning the League or the Champions League – the target is to finish 3rd/4th every year, make more money, keep the stadium full and sell-on the best players every 1-2 years (Willsher will be the next if he ever recovers fitness and form, as he is a quality midfielder). Spurs have greater ambitions – its why Harry got the push as he thought that all we should settle for is 4th place. He might be right – we could crash and burn under AVB. Or we could soar above Arsenal and actually challenge for the title. Thats why AVB has the transfer budget that was denied Harry – we trust him to spend it on the players that MIGHT win the League. The Arsenal Board (the ruling half) trust Wenger too – to keep them in 3rd/4th at no great cost, by buying cheap and selling dear. Will Arsenal sign Ganso? No – its a risk and Arsenals policy is not to take risks – its to keep ticking over and keep the crowds coming-in with the promise of a title challenge that is not based in reality. Look at the recent signings as proof – Meertesacker? Gervinho? Podolski? – players to win the League? Able to get into the Man City or Utd team? Get real Gooners and start kicking up a fuss about what is going on at your once-great club.

Its time arsenal cash in on Rvp, chamark and co, in other to sign players like Ganso. Its better to sell than keep players that want to leave or keep players who are not adding any value to the clube. Its time to win trophies for both the clube and the ever loyal fans, so Wenger pls sell and get quality.

We need midfielders. I do not want to get into this argument between the Spuds and Gunners because it is just like a teacher comparing himself with his student, that to me, is ridiculous.
