Spaniards Confident Of Signing Arsenal Striker

Spanish La Liga side Real Sociedad are confident they will be able to finalise a deal to sign Arsenal striker Carlos Vela on a permanent basis this summer.

With the summer transfer window in full swing, Football Talk will be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer news throughout the summer. Today, Real Sociedad are confident of landing Carlos Vela.

Real Sociedad are confident they will be able to finalise a deal to sign Arsenal’s Carlos Vela on a permanent basis this summer.

The Mexican forward spent a successful season on loan at Sociedad last term, scoring 12 goals in 35 appearances, and has made it clear he’d like to make that move permanent this summer.

Vela has struggled to establish himself at the Emirates after moving to north London in 2005 and has spent time out on loan at West Brom, Osasuna and Salamanca as well as Sociedad during his time with the Gunners.

The 23-year-old now appears likely to leave Arsenal this summer with Real boss Philippe Montanier hopeful they will be able to strike a deal this week. Quoted by Sky Sports News, Montanier said:

“The president is optimistic because I want a quick solution,”

“I expect that Carlos will arrive in this next week.”

Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay has also voiced his confidence that a deal can be reached swiftly, but insists there is still some way to go before a transfer can be concluded.

“We’re getting somewhere, but there’s nothing set in stone yet,”

“As the talks have evolved, I’m moderately optimistic, but there’s no deal yet.”

Aperribay is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News

Football Talk Verdict

I’ve always had high hopes for Vela at Arsenal. He’s occasionally shown glimpses of his quality, particularly in Carling Cup games in the past, but he just doesn’t seem to have what it takes to make it at the Emirates.

A move to Sociedad seems to have brought the best out of him so i hope he can make the move permanent and go on to fulfil his potential in Spain.
