Arsenal look set to miss out on highly-rated French striker M’Baye Niang after Manchester City made their move for the starlet, according to the Mirror.

The report claims that City’s Brian Marwood has made a personal approach to Niang’s club Caen requesting that the 17-year-old goes to the Etihad for talks this week.

The teenager spent time on trial with Arsenal last week while north London rivals Tottenham have also invited him to visit White Hart Lane, but City’s aggressive approach has moved them to the head of the queue.

Niang is one of the most highly-rated youngsters in french football and has already made 30 appearances for the Caen first team and been called up to the French under-21 side, despite his tender age.

The forward is expected to take his time in making a decision over his next move, but the Mirror claim City are now considered as clear favourites to land the £6m-rated starlet.

The Premier League champions are looking to improve their youth team set up with manager Roberto Mancini believed to be unhappy with the lack of players coming through the system, and 17-year-old Niang is seen as a player with huge potential.

Can’t wait to see how many gooners say “why can’t spurs get there own scouts and stop using ours” or something along those lines!! But before you do you might want to do some research!!

why in the heck would the guy wanna go to city……i am an Arsenal supporter but hell i would even rather him go to Spurs because at least then he wouldn’t be totally wasting his career because Spurs would give him a chance as would Arsenal, but bloody City just buy up talent like no tomorrow and they sit and rot……they are a Pathetic club with no morals. They have a whole host of youth that are rotting at this moment in time and they never get a chance because thye keep on buying talent so Youth gets left behind. Chelsea are the same, buy up all the talent meanwhile thier youth system is pretty much non-existant and the talent they do have like Mceacran doesnt get a look in because of the likes of Hazard.

Other teams might as well give up with teams like this always interfering, they steal teams best players and then when you try to buy decent talents to nurture they steal them also but then they never have the space to play them.

Regardless of some of the Spuds on here with the ‘Arsenal has no ambition and Spurs has’ nonsense, I’m afraid to say I have a lot more respect for Spurs than Mansour Citeh or Chelsea. the financial doping at these clubs is obscene.

I totally understand but you must also realise that Arsenal’s first team is also rotting and winning nothing, which is the precise reason the club’s best players want out.

It says City, Robbie, not Spurs. Why would anyone choose spurs over Arsenal?

    To GoonerEris..Why Spurs over Asre-anal?
Maybe for a club with ambition & a clear stratgy for the coming years ahead?????
Spurs despite the lamentable last few months of the last season aside are a club with ambition & have a structure from the very top to the base low which are aimimg for the same goal, year on year improvement…going forward
Why would Sigurdssen, Jan Vertonghen, choose Spurs above the Arse….the very name points to one reason alone, but to be serious for a mo’, for pure ambition.
Arse-anal have non, Spurs are slowly but surely realising theirs….

Clapton….Jan wold have to fight for a position if he had chosen Arsenal…Vermaelen, Koscielny….seeing as Spurs need him more, he went there….still most would choose Arsenal first unless they are desperate to start.

Nah might not have been a boyhood dream at either could it!? Not like their was anyone that might have inspired him to play for the best team in North London (albeit less successful trophy wise in the last 4 years what is it 7 years for Le Arse?!)
Nico_Claesen wiki him and school yourself!
      ??maybe??!

School my self on a 2 year spent in Spurs, not so successful? Yeah Jan was watching that….Can’t stand the delusion is all…Spurs fans and this idea that they will actually catch up to the likes of Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea..

Martin…not even a Gunner, but you are very delusional…and childish (seeing as you have to retort to funny names) Sigurdsson (not Siggurdssen) was not even considered by Arsenal….but i’m sure he’d chose Arsenal, Man U, Chelsea over Spurs if they wanted him….He was en route to Liverpool…that’s more of competition for ya.

Vertonghen choose Spurs over Arsenal because he would be first choice CB and he would want to play LB. If any youth player opts to play for Man Citu or Chelsea over Arsenal, Spurs or Man Utd. More fool Them!!! Youth these days should look at Clubs like Everton, Fulham, Swansea, Stoke clubs where they can develope and become the star player before moving to the bigger clubs avoiding Man City and Chelsea because they’ll only end upon the scrape heap.

        July 16, 2012 at 8:56 pm

Yeah, keep him!!! But I’m sure that’s why one of UTD’s highly rated kids left them for us recently? Jan chose us over you too? You can make all the excuses in the world, the fact is we were far more attractive to watch and play for last season. The way we play and our players and future is what’s drawing the players we want at our club, you just keep drowning in jealousy tears! Keep bringing up the 1 points difference, while in the back of your minds you know what’s coming, you know we’ll soon take our rightful place again. You’ll have to stop talking about us being in your shadow now, we’re getting far too good and your shadow is just way too small now to hold us back! COYS

Really? Take over from United? You’re having a laugh…unless you think you’re talking to a Gooner…..keep scrapping the barrel you deluded Spuds.

Actually you would have to say Chelsea have been the most successful London Club over the last 10 years.

Im not a goon bashing Spud but rather a fan of good football with an affilation to Spurs.

Both Clubs could have been a better bet for this kid than City. Arsenal potentially the best as you have traditionally given youth more of a chance than Spurs but AVB has shown he will always look at younger players.

The Spurs / Arsenal banter is a bit of fun down the pub, though I stuggle to see why upon these forums there is so much hatred ?

Both teams play great football and have been very close in respect to final position for the last few years.

Considering most fans dont actually know why there is a feud or even how Arsenal got their name it makes all this verbal feuding pointless.

Goons and Spuds should unite in a mutual caning of the Sugar Daddy clubs whom will have to bribe there way through the financial fair play rules.

            Just a thought……..

I really have trouble, understanding Arse fans. All they ever seem to some out of their mouths. Is bile and in the majority crap.Their hate fillled comments towards Tottenham and Manu.Seem to be filled with childish type brainless comments. One would like to think they may be one decent gooner out there with a sembalnce of a brain. But with the passing of time.It does not appear so.A Shem really .because life’soo short,to carry that much hate around in your head.

I dunno Brian , there were a few that actually preferred Spurs to Citeh and Cheatski which leads me to believe there may be a few with the requisite brain cells to function in polite society. I lived in Essex for years and have always been a Spurs fan, but I have never truly hated any fans from any other teams. The banter and rhetoric can sometimes annoy but idiots are often frustrated and should be pitied not fought. I think Le Arse will rise again once their stadium is paid for and their finances are freed up, and I truly wish we had a manager( like Wenger) who had a long tenure so they/we could plan ahead and strategise for the future.
