Joe-Allen

Liverpool are closing in on Swansea midfielder Joe Allen, according to Sky Sports News.

The Reds have been strongly linked with a move for Allen every since Brendan Rodgers made the move to Anfield from the Liberty Stadium earlier in the summer.

Rodgers confirmed his interest in the Swans schemer yesterday as he continues to try and re-shape his squad ahead of next season, and Sky Sports News are now reporting that Liverpool are in advanced talks over the 22-year-old midfielder.

Allen is currently away with Team GB as they prepare for the up-coming Olympic Games, but he’s thought to be keen on sealing a switch to Merseyside and once again link up with Rodgers.

Swansea are understandably reluctant to lose one of their most influential players, but will be unable to turn down a sizable offer. Sky Sports understand that Allen has a release clause in his contract and Liverpool are prepared to match the £15m fee required to land the Welshman.

New Swansea manager Michael Laudrup is preparing for life without Allen after signing Spanish midfielder Michu, and Liverpool are believed to be keen to tie up the deal quickly so the player can have time to settle with his new squad ahead of next season.

Great signing (if it happens) he knows Rogers and Rogers knows him…
Can only improve as a player from Steven Gerrard and Lucas Leiva.
Joe Allen will be a star player at LFC for many years too come and could establish himself as one of the great names to the rule midfield.

Henderson has just turned 22. Lucas was castigated in his first few seasons at Anfield. Your comment WILL come back and bite you on the behind.

I really cannot believe that we are falling for yet another Newcastle affair but this time with Swansea !!!
The price is GROSSLY exaggerated ( as usual for Brits ) and we do not need him.
We have Gerard Lucas Aquilani Cole Henderson Shelvey and more from the Academy so what do we need another mid-fielder for . Naturally we need to be taught how to play football by these world experts !

And who the hell made you an expert on player valuations?

Do you have access to a talent vs transfer fee scale that none of us are privvy to?

As Rodgers has first hand experience of Allen I’ll take his view on whether £15m (rumoured) is a reasonable fee.

Gerrard is aging sorry to confess. Aquilani hasent proved himself in BPL yet, Cole isnt what he used to be. Allen was the fourth in passing accuracy all over Europe, at Swansea. For 15 M in his early twenties, working with the same manager a la Messi, Xavi and Iniesta, whos to say…

I’d be astonished if we pay more than £9m for Allen and no more than £7m Dempsey. They’re ok but fairly uninspiring.I’d much rather we went for players like Ramirez and Mirallas

Yeah we all would but unless we sell players, raise 20 mil or more we ain’t gonna be able to get top european players, no real room for Allen and henderson so maybe Rodgers has a plan to sell him? Who knows, I haven’t got a clue what to expect this season, as long as we’re not as unlucky as last year we will improve

pls BR dont sign dis guy, ganso or ramirez will definitely fit the bill and not just one overhyped player

Are you a moron? First of all, since when has Ganso expressed an interest to join Liverpool? Because I dont recall it. Secondly, there wasnt even any interest from Rodgers in Ramirez in the first place. Ramirez was a target for Kenny Dalglish and when he was sacked, the intereset faded. Finally, Joe Allen is not another “overhyped” player and if you did your research before judging players, you would know that. Joe Allen actually had the 6th best pass completion rate in Europe last season with 90.3%. Personally, I think he would be a great addition to our team. Go ahead and make it happen Rodgers. YNWA!

Liverpool should be more discreet when doing their deals. They always counting the chickens before the eggs can hatch, that’s the reason why no deals materialise. And also the reason why other clubs end up bidding the same players that Liverpool are ineterested in.Brendan Rodgers should also bring some top class players into the team, and not follow the same route as Daglish, with regard to signings.

If we can spend 15m on Allen, why not add 1m and buy Ramirez who is better in my eyes. I watched Allen last night and he wasnt doing anything worthy of note against Brazil. I would have liked Dempsey if he was 5yrs younger. Why not use the 7m for Dempsey on Mirallas who is said to have a 6.4m release clause. Am really sick of LFC transfers. Such mediocre players all the time for big bucks.
