Joe-Allen

Liverpool are closing in on Swansea midfielder Joe Allen, according to Sky Sports News.

The Reds have been strongly linked with a move for Allen every since Brendan Rodgers made the move to Anfield from the Liberty Stadium earlier in the summer.

Rodgers confirmed his interest in the Swans schemer yesterday as he continues to try and re-shape his squad ahead of next season, and Sky Sports News are now reporting that Liverpool are in advanced talks over the 22-year-old midfielder.

Allen is currently away with Team GB as they prepare for the up-coming Olympic Games, but he’s thought to be keen on sealing a switch to Merseyside and once again link up with Rodgers.

Swansea are understandably reluctant to lose one of their most influential players, but will be unable to turn down a sizable offer. Sky Sports understand that Allen has a release clause in his contract and Liverpool are prepared to match the £15m fee required to land the Welshman.

New Swansea manager Michael Laudrup is preparing for life without Allen after signing Spanish midfielder Michu, and Liverpool are believed to be keen to tie up the deal quickly so the player can have time to settle with his new squad ahead of next season.
