Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has moved quickly to deny reports claiming he has agreed a deal to sign Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin on loan.

Manager Jose Mourinho confirmed this morning that the 23-year-old was available this summer, after only making 2 appearances for Real Madrid following his move from Borussia Dortmund last summer.

“I want to be honest and Sahin is living in this grey zone because the market is open,”

“If the possibility arises for him to go to another place it would be better for him to leave and to be able to have more minutes on the pitch.”

News broke on Friday morning that Sahin was set for a move to the Premier League after being left out of Madrid’s squad to a play a friendly against Benfica on Friday.

The Daily Mail were one of several news outlets to claim the Turkish ace was heading for Arsenal on a year long loan.

However, speaking after Arsenal’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester City in a pre-season friendly in Beijing, Arsene Wenger has dismissed these reports claiming the Gunners aren’t close to signing anybody.

“We did not sign anybody today, this report is wrong. We are not signing anybody at the moment – we are not close. In the future you never know.”

The question must now be if Sahin isn’t heading to Arsenal, where is he going? The Mirror claimed earlier on Friday that Manchester United and Spurs were also possible destinations for the playmaker, so if he is set for a loan move to the Premier League, those two must now be considered as favourites to land him.

That quote from Wenger is exactl how he always is until an issue is finalised, so whether Sahin is coming to Arsenal or not, is not in the slightest be adressed by his words.

Reports suggest he is going to a big club in the premier league! So its not going to be West Ham or QPR

None of the big clubs need loans – QPR or West Ham are still my bet

We had Adebayor on a loan last year. Are you saying that Spurs aren’t a big club?

Yeh Sahin is a very talented player, cant believe he hasnt played more for madrid but its only because they have so many players in all positions and sadly hes been left out, i would be really happy if he came to arsenal on loan, this player is very very talented.

To suggest Arsenal wouldnt want him on a years loan is stupid. With Wilshere, Ramsey and Diaby all returning after serious injury and Rosicky injured and out for the first 2 months as well as a number of youngsters emerging, taking a quality player for a year would be perfect – especially with a buy option if Diaby or Wilshere suffer setbacks

i would love to see sahin at spurs and should be part of the modric deal also get the hugo lloris deal done and bring in two new strikers(i cant see us getting damiao now that oscar gone for 25mil international dont need to sell anymore)so maybe rondon, joselu, yilmaz these are promising young strikers who knows if we have got this new money to spend maybe falcao, huntelaar but we do need two big striker signings .
