Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has moved quickly to deny reports claiming he has agreed a deal to sign Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin on loan.

Manager Jose Mourinho confirmed this morning that the 23-year-old was available this summer, after only making 2 appearances for Real Madrid following his move from Borussia Dortmund last summer.

“I want to be honest and Sahin is living in this grey zone because the market is open,”

“If the possibility arises for him to go to another place it would be better for him to leave and to be able to have more minutes on the pitch.”

News broke on Friday morning that Sahin was set for a move to the Premier League after being left out of Madrid’s squad to a play a friendly against Benfica on Friday.

The Daily Mail were one of several news outlets to claim the Turkish ace was heading for Arsenal on a year long loan.

However, speaking after Arsenal’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester City in a pre-season friendly in Beijing, Arsene Wenger has dismissed these reports claiming the Gunners aren’t close to signing anybody.

“We did not sign anybody today, this report is wrong. We are not signing anybody at the moment – we are not close. In the future you never know.”

The question must now be if Sahin isn’t heading to Arsenal, where is he going? The Mirror claimed earlier on Friday that Manchester United and Spurs were also possible destinations for the playmaker, so if he is set for a loan move to the Premier League, those two must now be considered as favourites to land him.
