Arsenal Close On Cazorla & Sahin

By on July 29, 2012

With the summer transfer window in full swing, Football Talk will be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer news throughout the summer. Today, Arsenal close on a double swoop.

Santi-Cazorla

Arsenal are looking to tie up a double swoop on Santi Cazorla and Nuri Sahin in the coming days, according to several reports.

The Guardian are just one of many news outlets who claim the Gunners have submitted a £16m bid for Malaga midfielder Santi Cazorla and are also confident of sealing a year long loan move for Real Madrid’s Nuri Sahin.

Arsène Wenger has been after Cazorla for over a year but missed out last summer when Malaga signed him from Villarreal for €19m (£15m). The Frenchman is now keen to take advantage of Malaga’s financial woes, with relegation from La Liga a distinct possibility if they don’t pay off their mounting debts by the 31st July, and Wenger hopes a £16m offer will be enough to land the 27-year-old.

The Guardian claim that Cazorla has already agreed personal terms with the Gunners and they are hoping to tie up the deal early next week when the club returns home from their tour of Asia.

Wenger confident on Sahin

In more good news for Arsenal fans, the report also claims that Arsene Wenger is confident of landing Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin on loan.

Sahin moved to Real from Borussia Dortmund last summer but has failed to make an impact at the Bernabeu, and boss Jose Mourinho has told the 23-year-old to go on loan to get some game time under his belt.

Arsenal have been in discussions with the Spaniards and agreed a deal to take him on loan, but the player is not convinced a move away from Madrid is what’s best for him and he’s especially not happy with the fact Arsenal haven’t included an option to buy at the end of the year-long loan.

After being left out of the squad for Friday’s friendly defeat to Benfica, Sahin has now flown to the USA with the rest of the Madrid squad, which will make it more difficult for Arsenal to tie up the deal quickly, but the Guardian suggest Wenger is confident he can persuade the Turkish international to move to the Emirates and he wants both Cazorla and Sahin to be available for the Gunners friendly with Cologne on August 12th.

Real more Arsenal transfer news

If the Guardian, and other reports, are accurate and Arsenal can bring in both Cazorla and Sahin, it would prove to be superb business by Arsene Wenger. To add Podolski, Giroud, Sahin AND Cazorla to the squad would be almost unbelievable for Gooners and I for one would be extremely excited heading into next season. How’s that for ‘ambition’ Mr. Van Persie?

I feel it’s ironic that at the very time we are spending on new blood coming in, the rise of our rising starlets has never been more pronounced.
It is vitually certain that a number will be promoted to the first team next term.
Coupled with the return of Diaby and (not to be rushed) Wilshere as well as last summer’s signings entering their second term in the EPL, IMO there is a selection headache for Arsene on the horizon. No complaints though!

I hope van persie, is also monitoring these two guys we are bringing in by next week, if he refuse to xtent his contract, which means, he is going 4 money, because arsenal have shown enough ambition now.

Jst watching this shambolic defending against the mighty kitchee fc makes you think what thell hell are we going to do about our major problem conceeding sloppy goals. a proper dm better full backs and an experienced keeper are all essential. we can say what we like about our players individually but collectively they are not working as a team at the back and are certainly not good enough to win trophies. it seems we just dont care how many we conceed and hope that we score more.

This is a good addition for us, but arsenal still need an experienced defender so that we can stop conceeding sloopy goals. pls mr wenger we trophies dis season.

As much as hispanic players are the best in the world, Premier League teams shouldn’t sign any of them because they always dream of Real Madrid and Barcelona. Also Cazorla is old and Arsenal needs someone younger. So I hope he doesn’t come and I hope Arsenal sign M’Vila now that Rennes, reportedly have lowered the asking price to 11,5M pounds.

Arsene Wenger, please if you know what you can do to sign this guy you better do it. We don’t want to remain trophyless this season. Even if it is Carling Cup we are ok with that. As you can see this pre-season can testify of it that we desperately need an attacking midfielder, someone that will be rotating in the pitch. Get us this two players and our midfield will be okay.

Have to agree with Nicky. If we sign both of them, we are going to need to clear out some players. Benayoun and Arshavin are both probably gone and IMO we should move Diaby on. He has a lot of talent but he’s always injured and whenever he has been fit, he hasn’t been up to the level required. He also can’t play defensive mid. Hopefully we will be in for M’Vila and another defender too

Cazorla is a world class player, he’s just unlucky to be a spanish in this stunning football era. With Xavi, Iniesta etc it’s hard to find place as first string. Sahin proved to have great skills but Mourinho didn’t trust him. Could be our luck.

the signing of diz two players would be a nice one, seeing that Arsene would move Alex Song back to pair up with Vm and shift Kos. to right bck till Sagna returns from injury, thereby giving Sahin and Aterta d midfield to operate n Carzola a free role to flaunt! Up Afc 4lyf
