Sao Paulo Play Down Moura’s Family Visit To Old Trafford

Sao Paulo have played down reports suggesting Lucas Moura’s family met with Manchester United officials and are set to offer him a new contract, according to Sky Sports News.

United have been in negotiations with the Brazilian outfit for weeks trying to secure a deal for the highly-rated midfielder, but have so far been unable to agree terms.

Moura is currently in the UK with the Brazilian squad for the Olympic Games and has indicated he wont be making a decision on his future until after the tournament.

Recent reports have suggested the players family had come to England to hold talks with United’s representatives and be shown around the clubs facilities, but Sao Paulo director of football, Adalberto Baptista, moved to play down those suggestions claiming they were only here to watch their son at the Olympics.

“His family went to England just to watch the Olympics, they had already told us they would,”

“They want to follow their son, like any parents would in a competition like that. There is no negotiation, no talks, anything.”

He is quoted as saying by Sky Sports

The Sao Paulo chief has also revealed the club are considering offering the 19-year-old a new contract in the wake of United’s interest.

“It’s possible we change his contract. He has four more years of contract. We may call him to extend, renegotiate his contract, maybe for 18 more months”.
