Arsenal have been dealt an injury blow with news coming from Goal.com that midfielder Jack Wilshere has suffered yet another setback in his recovery and will not be back in action until mid-November.

The youngster missed the whole of last season after undergoing surgery on an ankle fracture sustained in pre-season that was followed by several complications, while he also underwent knee surgery in May.

Manager Arsene Wenger claimed last week he hoped the 20-year-old could return in October. However, Goal.com claim they have been told by club insiders that the ace is well behind that schedule and he is now not expected to return to first-team duties until mid-November at the earliest.

The England international is well short of fitness and is still restricted to doing gym work, despite spending the entire summer working on his rehabilitation at the clubs London Colney training base, and there is still no date set for him to return to the training pitch to start ball work.

The summer has been filled with uncertainty surrounding the return of Wilshere and Arsene Wenger has often been very cryptic with his answers when questioned about the midfielder.

If Goal.com are accurate, and Jack doesn’t return until the middle of November, serious questions must be asked of the Arsenal medical team. As well as the questionable handling of Wilshere’s injury, they have struggled to identify and treat several injuries in recent seasons including those suffered by Tomas Rosicky, Thomas Vermaelen and Abou Diaby.
