Mamadou Sahko

Arsenal and Liverpool have been alerted to the news that Paris St Germain have told Mamadou Sahko he can leave the club, according to the Daily Mail.

The French defender has been with the Ligue 1 giants since the age of six and has come through the youth ranks to become the clubs captain, making 157 appearances since signing his first pro terms in 2007.

However, despite his reputation within the club his future looks in serious doubt after losing his place under Carlo Ancelotti during the second half of last season, making just two appearances in the final two months as PSG finished second in Ligue 1.

The 22-year-old has seen his chances of first team football dented further with the arrival of Thiago Silva from AC Milan last month and the Mail claim Sahko has now been told he is free to find a new club this summer.

Arsenal have long been linked with the powerful French centre back but Arsene Wenger will have to offload Sebastien Squillaci and Johan Djourou before any move can be made.

Liverpool are believed to have shortlisted Sahko as a potential replacement for Daniel Agger, who has been strongly linked with Manchester City and Barcelona in recent weeks, but Brendan Rodgers will do all he can to hang on to the Danish stopper and will only considering a move for Sahko should Agger leave Anfield.

The Premiership duo will face stiff competition for the defender though, with Newcastle, AC Milan and Lille all thought to be interested.
