Tottenham Hotspur are in talks to sign Inter Milan goalkeeper Julio Cesar, according to the players agent.
The Brazilian stopper is expected to end his eight year stay at the San Siro after Inter Milan signed Samir Handanovic from Udinese for £10m earlier in the summer.
The 32-year-old’s agent, Josias Cardoso, has confirmed that Tottenham are one of several clubs to show an interest in Cesar, and while initial talks have taken place with the north Londoners, no official offer has been made. Quoted by Sky Sports News, Cardoso said:
“Now he remains at Inter Milan, he doesn’t want to go to Brazil and the market is just closed there,”
“Some clubs indeed contacted us, but we asked them to contact Inter Milan, the club that own his rights. There is nothing certain yet.
“There are talks with Tottenham, but the English club has not yet made official steps. “
Earlier this week, a Facebook account claiming to be run by Cesar claimed the player had decided to leave Inter this summer, but the keeper has moved to distance himself from the account, claiming it’s a fake, and insists no decision on his future has been made as yet. He said:
“All I can say is that I have not issued any statement regarding my future. I also deny the statement posted on a Facebook account isn’t actually mine.
“If I have to communicate something to the fans, I will do it in person as I have always done.”

New Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is on the look-out for a replacement for 41-year-old Brad Friedel and it seems Cesar is one of the goalkeepers the Portuguese coach is considering.
