Cazorla Agrees 4-Year Deal & Set For Debut vs Cologne

By on August 3, 2012

With the summer transfer window in full swing, Football Talk will be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer news throughout the summer. Today, Arsenal close of Cazorla.

Santi-Cazorla

Santi Cazorla has agreed a four-year deal after passing a medical and is expected to complete his £16m move to Arsenal today, according to the Guardian.

The Spaniard traveled to London on Thursday after being given permission by Malaga to leave training to undergo a medical with the Gunners.

The necessary examinations have been completed and the Guardian claim the 27-year-old has agreed a four-year contract and will complete his £16m move today.

The midfielder will link up with his new team mates next week when he’s due to travel with the rest of the Arsenal squad to a training camp in Germany and is in line to make his debut in a friendly against FC Cologne next Sunday.

Cazorla is comfortable playing on the wings but it’s believed that boss Arsene Wenger plans to utilize the talented Spaniard in an attacking midfield role at the Emirates, and he will go someway to filling the creative void left by Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri last summer.

In what would be a stunning double swoop, the Guardian claim Wenger is also confident of landing Nuri Sahin from Real Madrid on a season-long loan. The Turkisk midfielder has struggled to make an impression at the Bernabeu since his move from Borussia Dortmund last year and has been told by boss Jose Mourinho to go on loan to gain first team experience.

Arsenal are eager to give him that chance due to concerns over the fitness of Jack Wilshere, who is expected to be out until at least the middle of October.

We don’t need any more CB’s…

Vermaelen, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Djourou, Bartley and Miquel are all good enough at CB especially with Steve Bould as the defensive coach.

i agree with you; no more centre backs needed. if Alex Song is staying we don’t need DMF neither as we have Coquelin, Frimpong (although still injued), Diaby, Arteta and the list goes on.I think with these 2 additional signngs we are ready to roll! Bring on the EPL!!!

I do not know much about Carzola but if you followed the Tour of Asia you would have noticed that Alex Song will be the play maker this season. Added to that you have Oxlade who wenger said will be playing in the central midfield role. Add to that Eisfield and Chuks Aneke. If Carzola has signed it means he will be playing on the wings no CM. I do not know the position which Sahin plays but at the moment i do not think he will get play time at Arsenal.

Before the preseason I was hoping to see arsenal signing Kaka on loan to help the attacking midfield department but having seen Song, Ox, Eisfield and Chuks in those positions I am not bothered about additions to that area.

plz dn’t judge d team with what u saw in asia they are are filmtricks, fitness is what wenger went for, most of those boys will be loan out like afobe who is on his on his way 2 bolton..

        August 3, 2012 at 11:49 am

So you are saying the quality shown was made up for Asians and cannot be replicated in league games? So why were you complaining that our defense is weak if the matches played showed nothing about our capabilities? Ever heard of neighbor’s wife syndrome?

I’m glad that we are now building a championship team, with the like of Carzola, Oliver, Podoski and Sahin to join the line up soon, it going to be exciting this season. But let us also give thanks to Van Persie for his critics, which has lead Manager Wanger to breaking the policy of buying highly rated players.Bravo Arsenal Bravo Gunners … I wish you all the best this year as we strive to put an end to the years of trophy-less season.

It takes RvP’s comments to open up Wenger’s purse. I hope there more money in there. They are still not enough to win the league.

    • Michael Staley

      August 3, 2012 at 11:08 am

It’s not Wenger’s purse to open or close. These signings have more to do with Arsenal’s increasingly healthy financial situation than with van Persie’s comments.

SC, What a gr8 signing. For me, i am no longer concern about RVP cos i am not too sure he will be injury free this season. I see another Jack in RVP, perhaps this season, if he eventually stays, he will contribute to the success the club will record this season. RVP likely departure will be a blessing in disguise.
Arsene, two more signing, one defensive midfielder and a CB, then we can take on any club. Arsenal Go Go.

Great signing, good things to come. I hope RVP now stays but if he don’t then we will need another forward and a top Goalkeeper to compete with Ches. we should go for Lloris.

Saying we don’t need CBs and defensive midfielders is a nonsense talk. I salute d comments of few pple like Marto,Willy G,and d likes. Arsenal have always been a gud team until Injuries and suspensions come to place,on this note,I support the motion dat Wenger and his board members shud invest more by getting gud and experience players.

Nah. I dont think we need another CB. I only pray miguel and bartly are patient enough coz they are our future VERM&KOS! Plus u have Mert and djourou! But i think we are in trouble currently camoflaging itself, if we dont get an outstanding right back. Sagna might be back in september, A man that has just broken the same bone twice! How strong do u think he wil return? I read of £7m and £8m asking prices flying arround for Azpilicueta, Debuchy, Van da Wiel, Neil taylor, etc! They are all gud right backs and Those prices are not exactly breaking our transfer record so we had better catch one of them now! But that said, weldone Wenger!
