Yann M'Vila

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to beat rivals Arsenal to the signature of both Etienne Capoue and Yann M’Vila, according to the Daily Mail.

The report claims that Spurs have tabled a £12m bid for M’Vila and are seriously scouting Capoue, with Andre Villas-Boas desperately trying to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season.

With Luka Modric likely to move to Real Madrid this summer and Scott Parker out for at least 2 months with an Achilles injury, AVB is keen to add to his midfield options and has identified the French pair as key targets.

Tottenham’s north London rivals Arsenal have been heavily linked with M’Vila all summer and were thought to be on the verge of completing a move for the 22-year-old before this summers European championships.

However, Arsene Wenger cooled his interest after yet another disciplinary issue at the tournament and this has opened the door for Spurs. However, the £12m offer on the table is not likely to land the talented midfield enforcer, with Rennes holding out for a fee nearer £17m.

Villas-Boas sent scouts to run the rule over Capoue as Toulouse played Montpellier on Friday and the Portuguese coach is now lining up a move for the 24-year-old.
