Wenger Confirms Sahin Interest & Admits Song Could Go

By on August 17, 2012

With the summer transfer window in full swing, Football Talk will be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer news throughout the summer. Today, Arsene Wenger discusses Alex Song and Nuri Sahin.

Nuri-Sahin-Real-Madrid

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed his interest in Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin and admitted Alex Song could be sold this summer.

Speaking to Sky Sports News at his weekly press conference ahead of this weekends Premier League opener against Sunderland, Wenger was quizzed on whether he would be making any further additions to his squad and also if Song would be sold this summer, to which he replied:

“Both could happen, but my focus is on the Sunderland game (on Saturday).”

Song has been strongly linked with a move to Spanish giants Barcelona in recent weeks with the Catalans looking to replace the departed Seydou Kieta.

The Cameroon midfielder has been at the Emirates for over seven years and clocked up over 200 appearances for the club but it’s understood boss Arsene Wenger would be open to selling if a suitable offer came in.

Speaking to Arsenal.com later on, Wenger conceded he had not made his mind up on the future of Song, but revealed no bid had been tabled as yet.

“This decision is not made [on Song],”

“No bid has been made and I cannot tell you more.

“I don’t know [about Song] at the moment, my focus is more on tomorrow’s game.”

The Frenchman was then quizzed about reported interest in Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin, who Wenger is believed to be keen to bring in should Song depart, and Wenger confirmed he is tracking the Turkish ace:

“He is one of the players we are following,”

Wenger is quoted as saying on Arsenal.com

So it looks very much like the papers have this one correct, and Wenger is considering selling Song and may very well bring Sahin in to replace him.

If the principle holds that once a player takes captance then he is gone to the other club next season. Then why can’t wenger name bendtner, and Park as captains! They can easily be taken then…

Bendtner is only biding his time. After all there are dozens of clubs in for him … all n the ECL (!!)

      A club with no vision?

So why did we decide to build a new stadium big enough to compete financially (long term) back BEFORE all the money from these foreign owners. If the hadn’t come along and pushed the boundaries as far as wages are concerned we wouldn’t be in the current situation. you clearly don’t understand the reality of the whole situation so how about you shut the f#ck up?!!!! numpty!

As an arsenal fan,i do not genuinely subscribe to the sale of Alex Song.In my opinion, song is one of the best defencive midfielders in the world who can some times serve as a utility player and loosing two best players every season is a complete insult to genuine fans the world over.I am yet to be convinced with Mr.Wengers philosophy in dealing with transfers these days.My fear is too much board room politics is gradually having a negative impact on the pitch and Mr.Wenger and the current board are playing on the intelligence of all the fans worldwide year in and year out.Until and unless David Dein is back arsenal will not go back to its glorious past. In the mean time, our only realistic chance of trophy is to secure champions league place.I stand to be proved wrong at the end of the season

When a player has been tapped up and tells you he is not going to play for you no more only one thing will happen, FACT! See ya song, i know he may vacate his post to get forward and leave the defence a bit open but he wasn’t all that bad and did more good than bad.

How about everyone starts slagging off these wanky cuntish agents for a change. they are the one’s touting their players about to line their pockets. scum! Should have club agents, stop these scumbags raping our club of it’s top players.

Mr Fortune, how could you say Arsenal is stupid and has no vision. Are you privy to their boardroom discussions and decision making? Is it because they refused to accept poisonous gift from dubious donors? Is it because they prefer to be self sustained than plunging into bottomless pit of debt, You appear to be the one who is stupid and visionless by making stupid and senseless statement without incontrovertible evidence. It is not compulsory you support Arsenal, you can shift allegiance or follow RVP. It is the people of poor knowledge like you that make inflammatory statements. Arsenal as a club is sensible as to know when to dispose a liability and has good vision to ensure a stable tomorrow than to tow the line of Portsmouth, Glasgow Rangers, Leeds and Malaga to mention but few. Winning a trophy is not an end in itself. Football now a day is more of business and less of entertainment and this you must allow to sink into your empty skull. Only stupidly and dubiously rich buffoons take football as past time and an avenue to disposeart of their stolen wealth. Staying in business as a profitable venture is the first thing, the second is staying among the best and the last is winning a trophy if possible. It is only a profitable brand that can chase laurels and any distortion of this principle may bring success in the short run but a terrible disaster on the long run like many clubs have found out in a harsh way.

Perfectly sumed up mate. Unfortunatly most the idiots outside and inside the media cannot grasp this and think of one thing. When other clubs fall by the waste side in years to come we’ll see whos the last one laughing then. Our board although people may veiw as negative, are actually paving a huge future for the club anbd are incredibly thoughtful and precise in the transfer market. Throughout all the superstars we apparently have sold on, I can only name a couple that actually went on to do something worthwhile. And cesc was always gonna go that way. Up the Gunners, and well written

B sorry to c song go. But the sooner the cancer of Darren deiins influence leaves our club, the better. We should insist our players stay away from him, as part of the contracts of new players. Good riddance to Darren dein, the anti arsenall

    • Mike the max

      August 17, 2012 at 11:12 pm

You have hit the nail on the head. David Dein and his son have only ever been interested in trying to control Arsenal. He brought in Kroenke and Usmanov and thought he could control one against the other. He made sure his son became agent for all the players he brought in and I am sure that was done so that another George Graham type scandal could be avoided. The reality is that after RVP and song they do not have any clients left at arsenal. So good luck with the final pay day and good riddance.

To everyone saying arsenal is a useless, Stupid or selling club, i think u beta hav ur heads examined. If a player wants to leave, wot shud wenger or d board do, prostrate on d floor & beg them to stay? Barca wanted to buy Martinez but couldn’t cos they lack d fund to hence they cmae for Song. Most clubs u see now are terribly broke…. Arsenal doesn’t hav a billonaire sponsorer. It’s either ur a fan or u stay away. Our time shall come…dis season maybe. But wot eva happen, i’ll remain a gunner.

Arsenal is too big for Arsene Wenger to manage cos since he has been managing the club we have not get anything than loosing all our big star. To hell with the board and the manager looking at the club till it got to thos low level.some gunners fans are very stupid with the way they comment here. To think of it. Is this how Gadiola manage he’s club to the giant today, is this how Sir Firgie manage he’s club to be the giant of England. To some arsenal fans that don’t know to comment. Is better you get off thos site if you can’t apply your IQ to comment here. Fuck you Arsene Wenger. You are an alibi and you don’t what to be a prof at all.

Hell with the Arsene Wneger. The club is too big for him to manage. Hell with the board cos you open your eye there and you see what arsenal has turn to today. I bet it Vamalin is the next man to sell of out of emirate cos we have loose so many of arsenal captain. We have loose all our big stars. The stupid club so far in the world. Imagine in a club where Jack Wilshare wear no 10 jersey. Funny you arsenal manage and the borad. To some tupid fans. If you don’t know to comment to show how much passion you have to arsenal club its better you leave.

Arsene, please bring in KLaas Jan Huntelaar to combine with Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud at the frontline to fight for the title! With that formidable Arsenal frontline to choose from, it will be an exciting premier league season ahead of us!
With regards to the existing rivalry between Van Persie and Huntelaar when representing their national team (and the fact that they are recognised goalscorers of class),the Premier league will be thrilled by the quality and quantity of goals produced by their respective teams. There’s still time to fix it if there i a will to console the fans.
    Think about it Arsene!!
    Best regards
    Bami.

@Abozo or what did you say your name was? wenger is too small for Arsenal, the board can’t manage Arsenal anymore right? Who brought these players to the club in the first place, who made them to be known & now that they have supposedly become stars in your eyes & want to leave at all cost you want all Arsenal investment on these players to go for free? i know how people like you insulted Wenger when he kept faith with these idiots like rvp, song, nasri, helb, viera, flamini, almuna & now that we still have diaby & co, when they weren’t performing well then, if Wenger had sold them, would stupid fans like you have the mouth to insult Wenger & the board? it is people like you that make others sick & please mind your English just hope that’s not how you speak in real life? It’s really BAD!!!

Arsenal fans are really troubled by dat clause future. wenger shld stop selling big players to arsenal rivals. Look at Rvp, nasri and also an ingrate like Adebayor who painted wenger wth a high rated shame. Rvp wil do thesame to him soon. i am very sure wth huntlaar and keepin song to our mildfielder alongside Sahin d club gives us a clears hope. one trophy Mr Wenger. Gunner for life

I doubt most people here watch Arsenal games throughout. How would you criticize Song for trying to become offensive if the people who are supposed to be doing that job are not doing it.Try watching the games before you comment and give credit where it needs be.Song has been improving every season and it would be a bad idea for arsenal to sell him but no matter what happens Arsenal’s strike force has been improved and i guess we shall perform better this season compared to any of the last 7 seasons.
