Arsenal Ready To Sell Walcott As Contract Talks Break Down

Arsenal are ready to sell Theo Walcott after the forward rejected their latest contract offer with Liverpool and Manchester City ready to offer him a way out of north London, according to the Telegraph.

Formal negotiations between Arsenal and the players representatives took place last Friday at the Club’s training ground, and further talks were held on Tuesday. However, the England winger rejected Arsenal’s £75,000-a-week contract offer, holding out for nearer £100,000-a-week.

The Telegraph claim that Arsenal have no intention on making an improved offer and if Walcott doesn’t change his mind and sign the new deal, he will be sold to the highest bidder before Friday’s 11pm deadline.

Arsene Wenger has previously stressed that the Club don’t want to allow players to enter the final year of their contracts, and they can not compete with the inflated wages paid by some of their rivals.

Officials at Arsenal still hope the 23-year-old will sign the new deal but if there is no movement over the next 48 hours, Wenger will sanction his sale and will be prepared to listen to offers in excess of £11m.

Liverpool have already made an enquiry over Walcott’s availability but they may now face competition from Manchester City, who have asked to be kept informed about the players situation after their move for Scott Sinclair broke down.
