Chelsea are in talks with Fenerbache over the £8m sale of midfielder Raul Meireles, according to the Guardian.

The Turkish club released a statement on their official website on Monday morning claiming that they had entered talks with the European champions over the potential signing of Meireles.

Although the British transfer window closed on Friday night, Fenerbache are still able to buy as their own countries window doesn’t close until midnight on Wednesday.

Meireles was signed by former Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas last summer from Liverpool in a £12m deal but has been linked with a move away this summer after failing to establish himself at Stamford Bridge.

New manager Roberto Di Matteo doesn’t see the 29-year-old as a first team regular and is happy for him to move on this summer providing they can agree a deal, with Fenerbache prepared to pay £8m for the Portuguese international.

Whether that’s going to be enough to persuade Chelsea into selling remains to be seen but the two clubs have just over 48 hours to find an agreement.

That is nonsensical, after loaning Esien to R.madrid, benayoun to westham, malouda to be sold, nw meireless to fernabache. Who is going to be back-up? We are playing alot of competition with no back up.

I am not in support of selling merieless, even if di matteo wnts to sell him at least he should sell him up to £25m, u should have not sell benayoun.
