Leandro Damiao

Leandro Damiao could be heading to the Premier League in January with Man Utd, Liverpool and Tottenham all interested, according to the Daily Mail.

The Brazilian has become one of the world’s most sought-after strikers after an excellent display at this summers London 2012 Olympics, where his six goals helped Brazil win the silver medal. The 23-year-old also enjoyed a superb season with club side Internacional, scoring 38 goals in 51 games.

Tottenham were strongly linked with a move for Damiao with this summer and the Daily Mail claim they had a £20m bid rejected in August. Liverpool also targeted the player but turned down the chance to sign him on loan as the deal was considered too expensive.

Manchester United have now entered the chase and are believed to have sent intermediaries to meet with Damiao’s representatives in Sao Paulo airport on Monday to discuss a potential January move to Old Trafford.

A move for the Brazilian hitman would cast further doubt over the future of Wayne Rooney, after it was claimed he had a fall out with Sir Alex Ferguson in pre-season and could be set for a move away from the club.
