Atletico Madrid striker Adrian Lopez is stalling over signing a new contract amid reported interest from Arsenal and Tottenham, according to the Metro.

The striker had an excellent season last campaign as his 11 goals in 18 games helped Atletico win the Europa League.

This fine form not only earned him a call-up to the senior Spanish squad but it also attracted interest from several top European clubs, with Arsenal, Tottenham and Barcelona all interested in signing him this summer.

Atletico managed to persuad Lopez to remain with the club after promising him he would be rewarded with a bumper new contract. While fresh terms have now been offered, the 24-year-old remains undecided on whether to commit his future to the club and he is yet to put pen-to-paper on the new deal.

Madrid are happy to wait as the player still has three years to run on his existing deal, but while the new deal remains unsigned, Lopez could still be bought if a club trigger his £14.5m release clause.

The longer this goes on the more vulnerable Atletico are to losing the striker in January, with Arsenal and Tottenham still monitoring his situation.
