Liverpool Transfer News: Reds Line-Up Dutch Striker

Liverpool are lining up a bid for highly-rated PSV Eindhoven striker Jurgen Locadia, as boss Brendan Rodgers looks to solve his striker crisis this January.

Despite the transfer window being closed, there is always transfer gossip doing the rounds in the papers and we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest news during the coming months. Today, Liverpool are linked with a Dutch striker.

Jurgen Locadia

Liverpool are lining up a bid for highly-rated PSV Eindhoven striker Jurgen Locadia, according to the Daily Mail.

The 18-year-old burst on to the scene with a stunning 11-minute hat-trick on his debut for PSV during a 6-0 win over VVV Venlo last month, and that performance appears to have caught the eye of Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers.

The Anfield club are desperate to add to their striking options this January with Rodgers currently having to deal with something of a striker crisis.

Having allowed £35m striker Andy Carroll to join West Ham on loan this summer, Liverpool failed to land a replacement before the transfer window closed leaving Rodgers with only two recognised strikers in Luis Suarez and £10.5m summer signing Fabio Borini.

However, with Borini ruled out for up to 3 months after undergoing surgery on a fractured foot that he aggravated while on international duty last week, Rodgers will now have to rely on Suarez for the foreseeable future.

The Uruguay striker will be forced to lead the line this weekend against Reading despite fears that he may be feeling the effects of his long-haul trip from South America.

A striker is therefore a priority when the winter window opens and Liverpool officials are keeping a close eye on PSV starlet Locardia, with a move this January not being ruled out.
