Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is lining up a double January swoop for unsettled London duo Theo Walcott and Daniel Sturridge, according to the Daily Mail.

The Reds supremo is desperate to solve his striker crisis when the transfer window re-opens in January after failing to land his targets in the summer, and the Arsenal and Chelsea attackers are top of his wish-list. However, while both Walcott and Sturridge are unsettled at their London clubs, Liverpool still face difficulties in securing the pair.

23-year-old Walcott is in the final year of his Arsenal contract and is yet to agree fresh terms. The England international is keen to be given a chance up front after spending his entire Emirates career on the wings and he’s also thought to want a better package than Arsene Wenger is prepared to offer.

Liverpool are willing to pay the Gunners £10m this January and Rodgers is ready to give Walcott the playing time up front he desires, but the former Southampton star is thought to be reluctant to join a club not in the champions league.

Sturridge is struggling to establish himself in Roberto Di Matteo’s starting eleven and Rodgers is prepared to offer him a way out of Stamford Bridge.

The merseysiders want to take the 23-year-old on loan for the second half of the season but Chelsea are only willing to sell him on a permanent basis and would listen to offers in the region of £15m.

The big question remains; where will Walcott and Sturridge be plying their trade when the transfer window closes in February? Will Theo sign a new deal at Arsenal, or will Liverpool be able to tempt him away? Will Sturridge stay at Chelsea and fight for his place or leave in search of first team football?

That’s rich coming off a loss to Norwich. I Think Liverpool will find there form when we buy one or two strikers. I know there’s only three points between us and Arsenal so what makes you think your side are so great?

I think liverpool have had enough of English players in the team, its high we sign quality foreign strikers to help us score goals and leave this overrated English players and move on

We should avoid signing either Sturridge or Walcott. I’d be happy if we could sign the likes of Edinson Cavani, Radamel Falcao, Mario Gomez, Soldado or Neymar. We should decide whether we are content on playing second fiddle or wish to dominate the Premier League and Europe, and spend accordingly. I don’t buy it that FSG don’t have money. THey seem to be making use of Liverpool as a platform to make money.

Walcott = light weight & useless as main striker

sturridge = unproven record plus he is similar to Ryan Babel = can’t score enough goals for Liverpool

Better option: David Villa or recall Andy Carroll

Pla get us big names strikers. Then again, hope they will believe in the project which we are running…. We need to sell our prospects, future and our aspirations to these big names…

Let them know how much they could be part of this project…. We need good strikers to our ball at the back of the net…..
