Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has admitted his frustration at his sides poor performance against Norwich and revealed he will assess his attacking options in January, according to ESPN.

We’re now 10 points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea after Saturday’s 1-0 loss at Carrow Road and we struggled to create any clear-cut chances throughout the game.

Boss Arsene Wenger has revealed his anger at the performance and feels the Norwich players simply wanted it more.

“We gave an easy game away and I am angry,”

“In the end, Norwich gave us a good lesson, but it is one I would rather not have.

“They wanted the win more than us, showed more desire and it is hard for me to admit that. Too many lessons like this and you stand at the end of the season with too many regrets.”

“The gap is very unpleasant. We had an opportunity that Tottenham could win and we could win, and we both lost. That of course makes the gap a lot bigger.

“You cannot say you do not worry about that, but what is more disappointing is that we could not score. After we went 1-0 down we had the ball for 70 minutes and could not score a goal.”

Wenger is quoted as saying by ESPN

It was clear for all to see that the Norwich side showed more desire on Saturday evening but the question Arsene should be asking is; why?

This is not the first time Arsenal players have shown a lacklustre attitude when playing against so-called lesser teams, so perhaps the manager and his staff need to look at how they prepare and motivate the players before playing these teams.

Also, what does it tell the players when their own manager says things like “we gave an easy game away”?! If Wenger thinks it’s an easy game, how can he blame the players for performing below par?

Wenger was then quizzed about whether he would sign a striker when the window re-opens after another toothless display in front of goal, and the Frenchman admitted his side lacked creativity against the Cannaries and he’d assess his striking options in January.

“I cannot answer that question now. We did not create enough against Norwich, that is for sure, but we have players coming back and have to assess how things are progressing in January before making decisions.

“There are far too many players who are below what is required in the Premier League, and the players weren’t at their best in terms of their concentration or commitment. We have to face the reality.”

Irrespective of players returning I think it’s clear we are at least one striker short and an out-and-out goalscorer is required in January, but will Arsene open the cheque book? Only time will tell.
