Wenger Confirms Wilshere & Sagna Will Be Involved vs QPR

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Jack Wilshere and Bacary Sagna will be in the squad to face Queens Park Rangers this weekend.

Wilshere missed all of last season with an ankle injury but has been edging closer to a first team return and was a shock inclusion in the squad that travelled to face Norwich last weekend.

The 20-year-old never managed to get off the bench as Arsenal crashed to a 1-0 defeat but Wilshere continued his comeback after coming through 90 minutes for the under-21 side in a 2-1 win at Everton on Monday, with the midfielder playing a key part in both Arsenal goals.

After another full week of training Wenger could start the influential playmaker against QPR on Saturday but the Frenchman will make a decision on Friday whether he’s in the starting eleven or on the bench.

Another player who is in contention is right back Bacary Sagna. The France international is yet to feature this season after suffering a broken leg last campaign but he also completed the 90 minutes against Everton and could come in for youngster Carl Jenkinson who has deputised admirably in Sagna’s absence.

“Jenkinson has done very well but has had to play in every game. We are happy that we have Bac available again. His experience is important as well.

“Wilshere will be in the squad. Will he start? I haven’t decided that yet, I will decide that on Friday.”

Wenger is quoted as saying by talkSPORT

After the Gunners put in another disappointing display against Schalke on Wednesday night, it’s clear the team are in dire need of a shake-up and the return of Wilshere and Sagna could be the timely boost we need.

I would like to see both players start on Saturday in place of Jenkinson and Ramsey, and hopefully Oxlade-Chamberlain, Gibbs and Walcott are also back in the squad. With those five back we will have something like our strongest eleven available and it couldn’t have come at a better time after a disastrous week for AFC.

I will like to see wilshere in d squad than ramsey.kosn or thomas Should replace santos on d lb.Right selection tomorow will determine winning tomorow.wenger has gotten d previous matches selection wrong.wat does wenger see in ramsey dat he starts him ahead arshavin. To me arshavin is more attackin and creative than ramsey in d squad.

I agree with above comment. Ashavin is wrongly sidelined. Should start in place of Ramsey in midfield or come on to replace Podoski. Santos not good defensively, Vermalen should take his place. Gervinho should revert to LHS wing and we must also have a winger on RHS. Lastly, team should not be one-sided. We should at times go with 2 strikers in 4-4-2 but who can often switch back to 4-5-1 or 4-3-3 depending on need. Team doesnt attack on multiple fronts concurrently. Also, manager should be morr flexible in substitutions. Why after 60 minutes always even where a player is having a day off? Santos could have gone off before we conceeded. Must stop holding players with kids gloves.

Good news to see Bacar and Wilshere, QPR are most experienced players in EPL but due to age have become slow. We need to play quick passes to tire them.

i’d definitely start Wilshere. Ramsey isn’t good enough yet. once Jack is 100%Ramsey won’t get a look in. i hope Gibbs is fit again as well as Santos is a liability

Thank u guys 4sharing me about ramsey. I sayed it b4 on differet blogs about it and in z last two games i predict if rambo on z pitch we will draw or lose. And 4 z future it will continue. When he played 90min we always draw or lose only 30% we win by narrow margin..

I agree with the comments that Arshavin should be given more of a chance. He offers much more attacking creativity.

Wenger should buy a dmf. Arteta is being overlaboured, he attacks more than defence, a dmf lyk m’vila or biglia should be introduced so dat arteta can go forward and bench ramsey,…and we also need a striker 2 boolster our attack, arsenal is nt living up 2 expectation in times of scoring…thank God 4 wilshere and sagna, i hope dat sooner or rather than later, veteran rosicky wil be fit also, so as to join ,carzola, arteta nd wilshere, in d midfield….wat a midfield dat wil be…up afc.

We dont need to buy creative midfielders, just get them back from injury. We have Rosicky(Quality), Wilshere(Quality), Chamberlain(Quality) and Carzola(Quality).

We need someone to tear the net, maybe llorente. We also need a left back or promote meade from reserves, he’s impressed whenever ive seen him, bags of energy and speed.

Its a good squad, the best in years, sign up Walcott for the penetration he offers.
