[Video Highlights] Arsenal 1-0 QPR: Late Arteta Goal Saves Nervous Gunners

By on October 27, 2012

Arsenal needed a late goal from midfielder Mikel Arteta to secure a 1-0 win over Queens Park Rangers on Saturday afternoon.

The players were clearly still feeling the effects of a difficult week that saw us lose consecutive games against Norwich and Schalke, as free-flowing football continued to escape us.

QPR were stubborn and proved hard to break down, but Arsenal struggled to create clear-cut chances once again and when they did find a way through the 10-man wall of defenders, keeper Cesar was in inspired form.

It took until the 84th minute for the deadlock to finally be broken, with Arteta poking home from close range. Although replays suggest he may have been offside in the build-up. But we’ll take that slice of luck and hopefully the win will restore confidence to the squad. Watch highlights from the game here:

Well, arsene might have this narrow escape to claim three points but it is still a long way to build up a consistent team to compete for honours. The spirit in the team is gntting low especially when the likes of santi, arteta and pold dont star up to change things. We still need a DM to hold and win balls and then a sharp goal machine to spear head.Thats my thesis for now otherwise thanks to the three spoils top up today.

If that goal had been scored against us, I would be claiming offside. Marginal? He was coming back from the goal line and was ahead of the sitting defender when heading the ball.
3 points just about deserved though looking ordinary against a team yet to win.
