Arsenal are set to meet with Theo Walcott and his representatives next week to try and trash out a new contract and bring to an end months of uncertainty over the attackers future, according to the Metro.

Walcott is in the final year of his contract at the Emirates and has so far been unable to agree terms over an extension, despite holding two rounds of talks with the club already.

The 23-year-old has indicated he want’s to remain in North London but the Gunners are refusing to meet his £100,000-a-week wage demands, with the club so far offering £75,000-a-week.

Walcott is also demanding more playing time up front and is reluctant to commit to the club until boss Arsene Wenger gives him assurances over his long-term role in the team.

The England international did his case the world of good with a hat trick against Reading in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday night, including two poachers finishes and a well timed run through the middle resulting in an excellent finish, and boss Wenger admitted he’s starting to look more like a striker.

The stalemate has alerted several clubs throughout Europe, with Premier League sides Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City all monitoring the forwards situation closely.

Arsenal have so far been playing hard-ball and boss Arsene Wenger has handed Walcott just one start since the end of August, but the club are now ready to sit down with the player and his representatives next week to try and finally come to an agreement.

These talks will prove key and if Walcott hasn’t signed a new deal before the end of November, the Metro claim Arsene Wenger is ready to listen to offers for the player in January to ensure they don’t lose him for nothing in the summer, and Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City will all be ready to pounce should the dispute continue into the new transfer window.
