Capital One Cup Quarter Final Draw: Arsenal and Chelsea Handed Away Ties

By on October 31, 2012

The quarter final draw of the Capital One Cup took place on Wednesday following another night of scintillating cup action.

After Arsenal’s twelve goal thriller against Reading on Tuesday, fans were treated to another goal-fest this time at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea beat Manchester United 5-4 thanks to a late Ramires effort. Holders Liverpool were beaten 3-1 at home by Swansea while Tottenham were also knocked out after going down 2-1 at Norwich.

Arsenal were rewarded with an away tie against Bradford City, while Chelsea were handed an away tie against Leeds Utd at Elland Road. Swansea will play Middlesborough at home while Norwich City entertain Aston Villa.

With several big-guns out, Arsenal and Chelsea are the clear favourites for the cup this year but with tricky away trips to lower league opposition ahead, it gives the so-called ‘smaller’ teams real hope.

The ties will be played on the 11th and 12th December, apart from Chelsea’s tie which will be played on the 19th due to their World Club Cup commitments.
