Chelsea travel to the Liberty Stadium to face Swansea City on Saturday afternoon and manager Roberto Di Matteo has given an injury update ahead of the game.

The Blues go into the match off the back of two intense encounters with Manchester United and it seems his squad are feeling the effects of a testing week of football.

Di Matteo has confirmed there are doubts over the fitness of key playmaker Juan Mata and defender David Luiz for the meeting with the Swans. Mata has a slight hamstring strain while Luiz has an ankle knock and both are rated as ‘very doubtful’ for the game.

The Italian boss also confirmed that midfielder John Obi Mikel is in contention despite being at the centre of a race-row involved referee Mark Clattenburg. Speaking to Chelseafc.com, Di Matteo said:

‘From the last few games and with the extra time we played we have a few others that have niggling injuries as well,’

‘ Mata and David Luiz are very doubtful.’

‘Mikel’s frame of mind is good and he is focused on the playing and the training, and he will be ready for the game tomorrow,’

There is better news on Ashley Cole who is fit after recovering from an ankle problem but Frank Lampard remains on the sidelines.

Striker Fernando Torres and defender Branislav Ivanovic both return from suspension and should come straight back in to the starting eleven, with Ivanovic expected to play at centre back if Luiz is ruled out.
