[Player Ratings] Swansea 1-1 Chelsea: How The Blues Players Got On

Chelsea lost top spot in the league after drawing 1-1 with Swansea at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday. Here are player ratings for Roberto Di Matteo’s men.

Chelsea were unable to regain top spot in the Premier League after a late Hernandez goal held the Blues to a 1-1 draw against Swansea at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The draw leaves Roberto Di Matteo’s side behind Manchester United, who had earlier beaten Arsenal 2-1 at Old Trafford to go clear of the Blues. Here are player ratings for the Chelsea players from Saturday’s game.

Cech – 6 – Rarely called upon but did everything asked of him when he was. Could do little about the Swansea goal after being left unsighted.

Azpilicueta – 6 – Struggled at times as the Swansea attack got in behind the full back on occasions, but there were encouraging signs he could become a top player at the Bridge.

Ivanovic – 7 – Probably Chelsea’s best defender on the day. Ivanovic held the backline together well but he may have done better in the build up to the home sides goal, being turned too easily by Shecter.

Cahill – 6 – His towering header lead to the goal but struggled to deal with the pace of Routledge at times.

Cole – 6 – Not his best day. Didn’t get forward as often as we’ve been used to seeing and lost possession too easily.

Romeu – 5 – Poor showing. Struggled to assert himself on the game and was subbed at half time.

Mikel – 6 – Wasn’t comfortable playing alongside Romeu as the Nigerian had to cover for his team-mate on several occasions. Improved after the break next to Ramires.

Oscar – 6.5 – Lively opening 30 minutes from the Brazilian but faded as the home side packed the midfield to restrict space.

Moses – 7 – Got himself on the scoresheet, albeit rather fortuitously. But the winger was full of running and put in a few dangerous crosses.

Hazard – 7.5 – Superb free-kick was saved by Tremmel and goal came from the resulting corner. Hazard took on the tag as Chelsea’s main creative threat in the absence of Mata.

Torres – 5 – Struggled again and fluffed a great chance to get on the scoresheet. Linked up well with Hazard and Oscar occasionally, but no cutting edge to his play.

Subs:

Ramires – 7 – Hard working as ever after coming on for Romeu at half time. Ramires added more calm and control in the midfield.

Sturridge – 5 – On for the last 20 minutes but didn’t see a lot of the ball.

Bertrand – N/A – Only on for less than 10 minutes.
