[Video] Wenger Defends Arsenal Fans After ‘Dutch Jimmy Saville’ Chants At RVP

By on November 5, 2012

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has defended the clubs supporters after they were heard aiming abusive chants towards former captain Robin van Persie during Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford.

The Dutchman took just three minutes to score against his former side as United ran out relatively comfortable 2-1 winners at the weekend. While the Arsenal away fans have received widespread praise for their support during the game – with the away section out-singing the home support for large parts of the game – they let themselves down with their chants towards van Persie.

The video below shows the Gooners singing ‘your just a Dutch Jimmy Saville’ while they were also heard signing other abusive songs about their former striker.

However, boss Wenger has jumped to their defence and claims the clubs supporters were just voicing their disappointment that van Persie had left them for United, rather than being disrespectful. Wenger told Arsenal.com,

“Our fans were fantastic today,” he said. “They were always behind the team.

“They expressed their disappointment because I’m sure they love Robin and that’s it. I don’t think they were disrespectful. I didn’t listen to that. It’s shown more that they were disappointed that he joined Man United.”

Here is a video of the Arsenal fans signing at van Persie.

Nothing about 60,000 Utd fans singing

“you’re just a french jimmy saville”

    and

“are you saville in disguise” at Wenger??

I don’t condone the Arsenal minority but they were responding to sick chants sung by 10 times as many Utd fans.

Report the full story or you will always be stuck writing for two-bob sensationalist blogs.

The story is based on the fact Wneger has defending the Arsenal fans signing about van Persie. Arsenal.com covered this, but they also failed to mention the fact United supporters chanted about the Gunners boss, does that therefore make Arsenal.com a ‘two-bob sensationalist blog’ as well?!

Arsenal fans know Arsenal.com is rubbish, but at least they write their own stories unlike Football Talk! You’ve just taken quotes from Wenger and twisted it by throwing in the issue of ‘Saville’ chants.

Do you people even know how to write?
Oh and let me help you on your spelling, it’s ‘Wenger’ not “Wneger” 😉

How have we ‘twisted’ anything? WENGER (thanks for the spelling lesson, appreciate it) responded to a question about the abusive chants aimed at RVP by Arsenal fans, one chant was about Saville and we supported it with video evidence (more than many other sites did). Absolutely no twisting involved.

Not even a mention of paedophile chants directed at Wenger sung by the majority and have done so for decades. Rabble rousing at its very best by football-talk

Mate, its SINGING songs not signing. Try a little proofing before you publish an article.
