Chelsea Switch Attention To Brazilian Hitman

Chelsea have made AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato their top January transfer target after Atletico Madrid refused to back down on their valuation of Falcao.

Despite the transfer window being closed, there is always transfer gossip doing the rounds in the papers and we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest news during the coming months. Today, Chelsea are linked with Alexander Pato.

Chelsea have made AC Milan’s Alexandre Pato their top January target after Atletico Madrid insist on hefty Falcao deal, according to the Metro.

The Europa League holders seem to have put Chelsea off the idea of signing Radamal Falcao after insisting that they have Fernando Torres included in the potential player plus cash deal. It is now rumoured that The Blues have switched their sights to the Brazilian striker who is having a tough time in Italy.

This is not the the first time that Chelsea have been linked with the 23 year old. Since bursting onto the scene at 18, Pato has been rumoured with a move to Chelsea in almost every transfer window, but Milan have always kept their man. However after a string of lengthy spells out of the game due to injury, the Italian club may be tempted to cash in on the youngster.

AC Milan currently face high wage bills; and the recent prison sentencing of the club owner, Silvio Berlusconi for tax fraud, means AC Milan is in the midst of what is being called a “revelution.” The club are now trying to do anything to raise funds and as a result, they’re prepared to sell Pato this winter.

A move to Chelsea seems most likely deal due to the London club’s current ‘striker shortage’ and Pato himself has revealed his desire to play for The Blues before. But while the upside with Pato is great, it’s his label of being injury prone that might make the move another gamble for Abramovich.

The truth is this deal would be another risk for Chelsea, but one that could turn out to be the best signing they make in a year including the introductions of Eden Hazard and Oscar. I’d be willing to take the risk, but are Chelsea?
