Arsenal Ready To Sell Midfielder After Deciding Against New Contract Offer

By  Published: 12th November 2012

Despite the transfer window being closed, there is always transfer gossip doing the rounds in the papers and we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest news during the coming months. Today, Arsenal could sell Emmanuel Frimpong.

Emmanuel-Frimpong-Arsenal

Arsenal are ready to listen to offers for midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong this January after deciding against offering him a new contract.

The Mirror are one of several news outlets who’ve covered this story and claim that Arsene Wenger has decided not to offer him a new deal due to concerns over his attitude and discipline. With his contract running out at the end of the season, the boss is now ready to sell in January rather than lose the tough-tackling midfielder for nothing in the summer.

Frimpong has seen his Gunners career blighted by injury after suffered two serious knee ligament injuries over the past three seasons. He has been at the club since he was nine years old and came through the clubs academy but it seems his time in north London could be about to end.

Many expected Frimpong to be handed a new deal after successfully overcoming his latest knee injury and a loan move looked likely in January to get his match sharpness back. However, it’s now claimed that he’ll move on permanently when the window re-opens with Wolves said to be interested.

The 20-year-old spent time on loan with Wolves last season before seeing his time with the club cut-short by injury but there are doubts over whether the player would want to drop down to the Championship as he would favour a move to a Premier League side.

If this story is true and Frimpong does leave in January, this will be a sad end for a player who’s spent over 10 years at the club. I had high hopes from Frimmy as he always gives 100% on the pitch and he seems to get on well with a lot of the lads at the club, but with the likes of Wilshere, Arteta, Diaby and now Coquelin all ahead of him in the midfield pecking order, it was always going to be difficult for him to make a breakthrough.

Hopefully we’ll see him go to a Premier League club because he’s better than the Championship. Someone like Fulham or maybe Aston Villa would be a good home for him. Whatever happens, we wish him well.

we should retain such young promising talent and sell off the mature dead wood in a team like squillace, chama, bendner, Diaby who has also become a liability, Rosicky, Djouro, now Santos, Fabiaski etc whom we have tried and can’t deliver anymore to our expectations.

This guy even Wenger wanted him to be signed by England, an indication of how good he is to let me go like that will be a regret in a season or two. watch the space!

Not much point in keeping both Coquelin and Frimpong.

Hope this isn’t true. He’s actually the sort of powerful central player we’re missing at the moment. He showed for Wolves that he’s capable of dominating PL midfields, and could be a really useful player for us in the future.

If this is true, then it is another bad decision by the club wrt wages and contracts. We can’t afford to keep this promising young player who can’t contain his love for the club and has already shown on many occasions he can hold his own and even dominate PL midfields physically, while we’re willing to give 50k pw contracts to players who cannot be relied on to turn up when they’re really needed?!
For his age, he’s one of the strongest midfielders I’ve ever seen, he has a decent level of talent and most importantly has great confidence and a clear desire to win games and help his team-mates. Once he get’s through these injury problems, he’ll become a reliable midfielder who will always carry the fight to the opposition – something that’s clearly lacking from this arsenal side. OK, his injury problems carry a risk, but this one is worth it imho.

F*ck him and others like Ramsey and all the other garbage over rated youth !!
Frimpong and others are the reason we are so crap. We need more like arteta and Cazorla and not garbage like Ramsey !!
Fans that are attached to this welsh/ English players crap are destroying this club.
Even Wilshire is over rated and showed how useless he is !!!
Arsenal will never be anything unless Wenger leaves and a new foreign manager comes and sells all the useless English youth that is costing us dearly.

Wenger may actually be making a decision here rather than his customary procrastination. There will be medical grounds tho I know nothing of his attitude. If he is physically vulnerable the goodbye and best wishes Emmanuel.

Same thing can be said about Diaby, spends more time off the field then on it, we should get rid of him first, then think about young talent like Frimpong.

Wish we were. Then we wouldn’t have Squillaci, Santos, Djourou, Chamakh, etc etc. we are a club who sells its bet players because they want to leave because Wenger has lost his way and our performances suffer as good to mediocre players drift in and out of form in a purposeless shambles devoid of clarity purpose meaning and strategy.

fripong loves the club, believes in the club, knows the club’s history, has what we need in the middle ‘power’,he is young,he will bring competition, cost us nothing, beta than squilahi, chamak, almunia, santos, benthner, djoru. why do u want to sell this guy.wenger are u deaf and blind, cant u talk or u are not seeing ? another wrong decision .chelsea, mancity, liverpool, real, bayern, barca etc all have minimum of 2 matured natural defensive midfielders and we wana sell the one we av.why ?how much are we paying him ? think !
