Vitesse Arnham striker Wilfried Bony has welcomed links suggesting Chelsea were interested in him and admitted he would be open to a move to Stamford Bridge, according to the Mirror.

The £8m-rated hitman has attracted interest from throughout Europe after his excellent start to the season in Holland which sees him currently topping the goal-scoring charts in the Eredivisie.

Chelsea’s sporting director Michael Emenalo was in the stands to watch the Ivory Coast striker in action during Vitesse Arnham’s 0-0 draw with FC Twente on Sunday, while Everton, Liverpool and Aston Villa have also been credited with interest.

But it’s a move to the European champions that the 23-year-old has his eyes on, admitting it’s an honour to be linked with a ‘top club’ like Chelsea and he would welcome a switch to West London if the two clubs can agree a deal:

“It’s not the number one topic for me at the moment, but if they write about me going there, then it’s great isn’t it?

“But seriously, if they want me, it would be a great honour. I would be glad to go to such a club.

“I love English football and wouldn’t be afraid to play there. Chelsea are a top club.

“If Chelsea are interested in the winter and the clubs reach an agreement, then why not?

“We’ll see what happens. At the moment I want to be playing as well as I can for Vitesse.

“I know that Chelsea and Arnhem are close and some of the Chelsea lads are here on loan, including Tomas [Kalas]. I have discussed it with him many times already.”

Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo is keen to add to his striking options when the window re-opens in January, with current front man Fernando Torres struggling with his form in front of goal. Reports suggest Radamel Falcao could be heading to Stamford Bridge but it remains to be seen whether Roman Abramovich will splash out the hefty fee required to land the Columbian, and Bony looks like a worthy back-up if the Russian decides against it.
