Transfer News: Fergie Determined To Beat Arsenal & Spurs To £20m Starlet

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to blow Arsenal and Tottenham out the water with an offer for Crystal Palace attacker Wilfried Zaha, according to the Daily Mail.

Zaha has become one of the hottest properties around after breaking into the Palace first team this season and recently earned his first international cap with England during a 4-2 friendly defeat to Sweden last week.

Arsenal and Tottenham have been strongly linked with the 20-year-old but Manchester United have now entered the race after Ferguson’s son Darren recommended Zaha after he ripped his Peterborough side apart a couple of weeks ago.

It’s understood Fergie is determined to do what ever it takes to beat the North London duo to his signature in January and is prepared to use United’s financial muscle to do so by offering a superior deal to Palace as well as handing the player better terms to move north.

An apparent ‘source’ is quoted in the Daily Mail as saying:

‘Sir Alex now thinks Zaha has the skill and bottle to play for United – and he wants him badly.’

Ferguson sees Zaha as a replacement for Portuguese winger Nani, who’s expected to leave Old Trafford after failing to agree terms over a new contract.

Palace are desperate to hang on to their key man to maintain their promotion push and have slapped a £20m prive-tag on his head. However, United, as well as Arsenal and Spurs, are still expected to test the Championship sides resolve when the window re-opens and Palace are likely to accept a fee in the region of £10m with add ons.
