Juventus vs Chelsea Preview: Team News, Likely Line-ups & Predicted Score

Chelsea take on Italian outfit Juventus in Turin on Tuesday night in the Champions League . Here’s a preview with team news, likely line-ups and predicted score

Fernando Torres vs Leicester

Chelsea take on Juventus in Turin on Tuesday night for what could prove to be a decisive game in their Champions League campaign.

The defending champions currently sit joint top of Group E with Shakhtar Donetsk with tonight’s opponents Juve just a single point adrift, meaning it’s all to play for.

Defeat for Chelsea, combined with a win for Shakhtar, would leave them on the brink of elimination and becoming the first holders of the trophy to fail to reach the knockout stages.

Roberto Di Matteo’s men go into the game off the back of Saturday’s disappointing 2-1 loss to West Brom that leaves them four-points adrift in the Premier League title race, so they will be looking to bounce back this evening.

Team News

Juventus are sweating on the fitness of Mirko Vucinic who has been sidelined with flu. It’s unlikely the striker will be passes fit so Fabio Quagliarella is expected to partner Sebastian Giovinco up front, with Nicklas Bendtner and Alessandro Matri on the bench.

Di Matteo has a huge decision to make over who to start up front. Fernando Torres put in another lackluster display at the weekend and the Italian is giving serious consideration as to whether to start Daniel Sturridge tonight.

However, it’s likely that Di Matteo will stick with the £50m man and give him another chance to prove his worth up front. Ashley Cole is expected to recover from his hamstring injury, but John Terry and Frank Lampard remain out.

Predicted Score

Juventus were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Lazio at the weekend but still sit four points clear at the top of Serie A and look a formidable force after their 49-game unbeaten run on the way to securing last season’s title. Chelsea on the other hand head into the game in poor form having not won in four attempts in the league and looked sloppy at the Hawthorns on Saturday. But we think the Blues will snatch a draw in a tense game in Turin. Juventus 1-1 Chelsea.
