The agent of Sporting Lisbon attacker Jeffren has revealed Liverpool are one of a number of clubs interested in the player, according to Goal.com.

Jeffren came through the youth ranks at Spanish giants Barcelona and was widely regarded as a potential future star during his early years at the club. However, after being promoted to the Barca first team team squad in 2008 he failed to make the breakthrough at the Nou Camp, making only 22 appearances in three years and eventually joined Sporting in 2011.

His time in Lisbon has been hampered by injury problems but he’s recently returned to action and Liverpool boss Brendan Rodger’s must have seen enough in the attacker to persuade him to track his progress.

The Reds boss is desperate to add to his attacking options when the transfer window re-opens and according to the 24-year-old’s agent, Jorge Llagostera, the Merseysiders are one of a number of Premier League clubs who’ve shown an interest in Jeffren.

“Liverpool and other Premier League clubs are monitoring the kid,”

“But, formally, we still not have received an offer to negotiate with Sporting.”

Llagostera is quoted as saying by Goal.com
