Edinson Cavani has ruled out a move away from Napoli amid rumours Arsenal are lining up a January move for the striker, according to talkSPORT.

The Uruguayan hitman has become one of the most sought-after players in world football after moving to Napoli from Palermo in 2010. The 25-year-old has scored an impressive 80 goals in 110 games for the italian outfit and has attracted interest from several of Europe’s top clubs.

The latest club to be linked is Arsenal, with recent reports suggesting Arsene Wenger is lining up a big-money move for the player. However, Cavani has responded to the speculation and insists he’s happy at Napoli and won’t be moving to the Emirates any time soon.

When quizzed about a potential January move to Arsenal, Cavani is quoted by talkSPORT as saying:

“My future is the present, I’m happy at Napoli, my teammates are fantastic, the fans are very passionate and my family is settled here – it’s all fantastic.

“I’m happy I came here.”

Cavani would be a ‘dream’ signing for Arsenal and while it’s nice to be linked with players of his quality, many Arsenal fans, myself included, didn’t for one second think Wenger would spend the money required to land the highly-rated striker. It would be a serious change in transfer policy but it’s always nice to dream, isn’t it?!

Anyway, it seems the player is happy in Serie A and won’t be moving in January so back to looking at more realistic targets. Thierry Henry back on loan anyone?
